U.S. 63 travels 96.483 miles through southeastern Minnesota, joining Spring Valley, Stewartville, Rochester with Lake City and Red Wing along the Mississippi River.

U.S. 63 enters the North Star State from Chester in northern Iowa traveling through western Fillmore County to Spring Valley. The U.S. highway merges with State Highway 16 for a five mile overlap west from Spring Valley into Mower County before returning north for Racine.
Beyond Racine, U.S. 63 continues north into Olmsted County ahead of Stewartville and Interstate 90. U.S. 63 follows an expressway north from I-90, traveling near Rochester International Airport (RST) en route to U.S. 52. U.S. 52 and 63 merge along a freeway around the south and west portions of Rochester, largest city in southeast Minnesota.
While U.S. 52 continues along a freeway toward St. Paul, U.S. 63 branches east and north for Zumbro Falls in Wabasha County. North of Zumbro Falls, U.S. 63 angles northeast for Lake City along the Mississippi River. U.S. 63 joins U.S. 61 for a 16.5 mile overlap northwest from Lake City to Red Wing, where it leaves for Wisconsin on the Red Wing Eisenhower Bridge.
