U.S. 80 West - Montgomery




U.S. 80 westbound departs Interstate 85 south and joins U.S. 231 and SR 21 south along Eastern Boulevard. Commercial frontage and service roads line both sides of Eastern and South Boulevards, adding to congestion along the 1960s-constructed arterial.

U.S. 80-82/SR 21 (South Boulevard) meet Interstate 65 at a commercialized diamond interchange. Older style trailblazers for I-65 and I-85 here were replaced after 2005.

U.S. 82 turns north alongside I-65 from South Boulevard to Prattville. U.S. 80 joins I-65 south 1.12 miles across Catoma Creek to Selma Highway west. SR 21 remains along South Boulevard west 0.56 miles to U.S. 31 (Mobile Highway) at West Boulevard.

Separating from I-65 south, U.S. 80 initially follows a freeway 0.766 miles west to a diamond interchange with U.S. 31 & SR 21 (Mobile Highway).

U.S. 31 (Mobile Highway) generally serves local traffic around the west side of Montgomery north to Maxwell A.F.B. and south to Hope Hull. SR 21 runs north alongside U.S. 31 for 1.23 miles to South Boulevard.

U.S. 80 (Selma to Montgomery March Byway) between U.S. 31 and the city of Selma is a National Historic Trail because of its significance during the Civil Rights Movement.
