U.S. 101 South - Florence to California


U.S. 101 (Oregon Coast Highway) south meets OR 126 (Ninth Street) at the western terminus of the state route in the town of Florence. OR 126 comprises the main route between the central Oregon coast and the city of Eugene. The state highway is a remnant of the U.S. 126 designation terminated in 1972.

Now traveling south on U.S. 101/Chetco Avenue at the Curry County Route 784/North Bank Chetco River Road intersection, U.S. 101 prepares to cross the Chetco River. After crossing the river is a right ramp from southbound to Curry County Route 816/Lower Harbor Road and Curry County Route 808/South Bank Chetco River Road.

As U.S. 101 travels south over the Chetco River, the exit ramp to Curry County Route 816/Lower Harbor Road and Curry County Route 808/South Bank Chetco River Road will connect U.S. 101 to Brookings Harbor.

Continuing south, U.S. 101/Oregon Coast Highway approaches the Chetco Valley Museum and Oregon's largest Monterey Cypress Tree on the left (east) side of the highway.

Southbound U.S. 101 meets Curry County Route 896/Winchuck River Road at this intersection. The county route is signed with a blue and gold pentagon, confirming that some counties in Oregon use the nationally standard county route shield. Follow Curry County Route 896 east to Winchuck and Ludlow.

The State Line Myrtlewood store marks the state line between Oregon and California. The distinctive hexagonal sign marks the point where U.S. 101 leaves the Beaver State and enters the Golden State.
