U.S. 220 North - Franklin County to Roanoke


Blue Ridge Parkway meets U.S. 220 (Franklin Road) north of Clearbrook and west of Roanoke Mountain. Maintained by the National Park Service, the parkway stretches 218 miles from North Carolina, west of I-77, to Skyline Drive and U.S. 250 outside Waynesboro.

Wonju Street joins U.S. 220 with parallel Colonial Avenue to the north and U.S. 220 Business (Franklin Road) to the south via a cloverleaf interchange.

A loop ramp links U.S. 220 north with Wonju Street. Wonju Street comprises a four lane arterial south from Colonial Avenue to Franklin Road and Broadway Avenue. Colonial Avenue stems west from Brandon Avenue to become SR 720 outside the city to SR 419 (Electric Road).

SR 24 begins in Roanoke at the intersection of Elm Avenue and SR 116 (Jefferson Street) and travels east to a diamond interchange (Exit 6) with I-581/U.S. 220.

A wye interchange next connects U.S. 220 with U.S. 220 Business (Franklin Road) north. Franklin Road switches sides with the freeway en route to U.S. 221 (Elm Avenue).
