Passing under the NE 60th Street overpass, SR 520 curves eastward and reduces to four overall lanes at West Lake Sammamish Parkway NE. Originally SR 901 angled southeast from former SR 908 (Redmond Way) along all of West Lake Sammamish Parkway to Exit 13 of Interstate 90. SR 520 lowers into the Sammamish Valley at West Sammamish Parkway. Construction in 2009-10 replaced the original loop ramps between the north-south parkway and freeway with new bridges over the Sammamish River to provide a safer transition to SR 520. These spans parallel the freeway mainline and were part of an overall widening project for SR-520 eastward to SR 202.3 08/29/06
What was a four lane freeway was expanded into an eight lane freeway (four general purpose, two HOV, and two auxiliary lanes) with 2007 to December 2010 road work. This WSDOT project was undertaken to address congestion issues with commuter traffic at the former split diamond interchange with SR 202 (Redmond Way). 08/29/06
SR 520 originally bottle necked at the SR 202 off-ramp, with the right lane defaulting onto Redmond Way and the left lane continuing onto Avondale Road. 08/29/06
SR 202 constitutes a 30.55 mile route from SR 522 at Woodinville to Exit 31 of Interstate 90 at North Bend. Locally the road joins the Redmond city center with Sammamish and unincorporated Fall City to the east. 08/29/06
The eastbound off-ramp to SR 202 remains vastly unchanged with WSDOT construction through December 2010. A new directional ramp however eliminated the left turn cycle from SR 202 (Redmond Way) north to SR 520 west. 08/29/06
