State Trunk Highway 145

Wisconsin State Trunk Highway 145

Wis 145 overlays the old alignment of U.S. 45 from Milwaukee north to Germantown. The trunk highway forms a local route through Germantown to Menomonee Falls. The remainder of the route southeast varies from a six lane freeway to urban boulevard through Milwaukee.

The easternmost portion of Wis 145 formerly traveled along the Park Freeway. Built in 1969, the Park Freeway east of Interstate 43 was demolished in 2002 as part of a new urbanist movement to reclaim land north of Downtown. The removed freeway was replaced with McKinley Avenue, a surface boulevard extending east from the redirected Wis 145 to the Milwaukee River and Lower East Side.
