Delaware Route 1 North

SR 1/7 between Exit 164 and I-95 was one of the most congested stretches of freeway in the state of Delaware until the addition of flyovers in 2013. 12/18/04

The last original exit sign for I-95 north and the former Mall Road overpass linking Christiana Mall and SR 7. Built in conjunction with a partial interchange linking Stanton Christiana Road (SR 7) and the 1980 opened mall, the bridge tied into a tight loop ramp from SR 7 south onto Mall Road east. The Mall Road ramp to SR 7 included a traffic light adjacent to the loop. 12/18/04

The Tybouts Corner to Christiana section of SR 1 initially used mile based exit numbers. These were converted to use kilometer based exit numbers in 1997. 03/17/95

Prior to 2016, a lone shield assembly referenced the continuation of SR 7 north at the 2013-completed separation with Exit 165B. The overhead for I-95 south was changed to show that both lanes to the left serve SR 7 north. 09/28/14

An overhead for I-95 south (Exit 165A) was added in 2000, coinciding with the completion of the interchange (Exit 166) with SR 58. The ground level sign remained for a period of time. 12/18/04

The 2000-sign for Exit 165A was replaced by 2008, and its predecessor by 2013. Tolls are not charged along I-95 south until after Exit 1 with SR 896. 08/03/13

This 1998 overhead for SR 58 (Churchmans Road) was replaced by 2008. Churchmans Road comprises a busy arterial west to Delaware Park and east across I-95. 12/18/04
