Interstate 95 Delaware – South
All three sign bridges previously displayed a Left Lane Ends sign, an I-95 pull-through panel and an Exit 5 overhead for SR 141. 03/28/04
A resigning project underway in 1998 and 1999 reconfigured the travel lanes so that two lanes depart for the c/d roadway to SR 141 north to Newport and U.S. 202/SR 141 south to New Castle. 08/25/21
Replaced overheads at the Exit 5 c/d roadway beginning from the I-95 mainline. The pull through panel was replaced by 2010 and the remaining signs by 2012. 03/28/04
Interstate 295 southbound ends to the left just beyond the gore point for SR 141 (Basin Road / Newport Freeway). Three exits remain along I-95 south in Delaware. 09/27/14
The influx of I- 295 traffic onto I-95 expands the southbound freeway to five lanes overall. The left lane however ended a short distance before the Exit 5 c/d roadway return until 2008. This pull through sign was the first in a series between SR 141 and SR 7 at Churchmans Crossing. 08/07/04
The last state named shield posted on I-95 in Delaware was located by the SR 141 northbound overpass until 1996. 09/27/14
Southbound at the merge with the c/d roadway from SR 141. Routine congestion plagued this bottleneck until 2008. 05/19/07
A Delaware Turnpike / John F. Kennedy Memorial Highway sign took the place of yet another four-lane pull-through panel south of Exit 5 when it was added in the 1990s. 04/30/04
Overheads for the Delaware Turnpike/John F. Kennedy Memorial Highway and the Delaware Welcome Center were replaced with ground level assemblies in 2020. 10/03/04
The third in a series of large pull-through panels coincided with a lane drop at Christina Marsh. Expansion of I-95 across the wetlands in 2005-06 added an outside lane in each direction along with 12 to 14 foot shoulders. 03/27/04
Hospital trailblazers were added over the right lane on overheads in 1985 for SR 7 when Christiana Hospital opened. 04/30/04
This sign bridge was added at the second crossing of the Christina River by 2008. A lane drop occurs in one mile for Exits 4B/A to SR 58 (Churchmans Road) and SR 1/7. 10/03/04
Exit 4B links I-95 with SR 7 north via SR 58 (Churchmans Road) west. The ramp was the only serving SR 7 until 1976 when the loop ramp to SR 7 south opened to traffic. 03/27/04
Greenouts for Churchmans Crossing covered Metrform, the original name of the planned development at the crossroads of SR 4 and SR 7. 03/27/04
During the month of December 2004 the sign for Exit 4B was removed; by April of 2005 a replacement was installed. 05/01/05
Overheads for Exits 4B/A were again replaced by 2010 to coincide with a new cantilever added to support northbound signage. Beaches was added as a third destination for Exit 4A. 06/26/10
A lone remaining four lane pull through panel for Interstate 95 south to Newark and Baltimore was used until 2013 ahead of Exit 4A. It was replaced with an APL for the flyover to SR 1/7 south. 06/26/10
Bridge supports taking shape for the Churchmans Road (SR 58) overpass replacement. The $13.1 million project began in Spring of 2004 and was completed by December 2005. The 800-foot long bridge replaced the original span to the east.1 12/21/04
SR 1 was extended northward to Interstate 95 in April 1993. Guide signs omitted Dover for the state route until 2008. 04/30/04
The former loop ramp (Exit 4A) for SR 1/7 southbound. This exit resulted in weekday congestion between 2:30 and 6:30 PM. 03/27/04
