Should Florida’s Turnpike be extended?
I've always wondered if the Turnpike should be extended northwest to US 19/98. While I've heard rumors that it has been considered in the past, I've never seen or heard much to substantiate it other than "possibly maybe long-term". Construction of the new Greensboro bypass, otherwise known as Painter Boulevard, resulted in the relocation of Interstate 85 from the city onto the southeastern section of the new road in 2004 and then Interstate 40 on both the sections of the new bypass in February 2008. The Mystery of Georgia’s Business Loops
Georgia was the one of a few southeastern states to openly embrace the concept of using Interstate Business Loops in the early days. North Carolina had its loops through Lexington, Fayetteville, and Rocky Mount, before the urban freeway loops of Winston-Salem and Greensboro (of which Business Loop I-40 was recently decommissioned) joined the list. Alabama 158 (Industrial Parkway) extended
Without any fanfare or even a mentioning to my recollection, Alabama 158 (Industrial Parkway) is now open between U.S. 45 and the Schillinger Road extension (Newburn Road). We took an opportunity to travel the new road this past weekend, and sure enough, everything is completed. Three Texas Road news items
My home state has had a busy year with opening new stretches of major roadway. A large section of the new tolled SH 121 freeway north of Dallas opened in August. The new 16-mile stretch from Frisco to the southwest forms a partial loop of northern Dallas. Albuquerque @ AARoads
One of my recent mapping projects involved updating a wall map for Albuquerque and Sandoval County, New Mexico. Delaware gets in on Clearview act
The first sighting of Clearview font used on highway signs was reported to us recently along Interstate 95 in Delaware. New signs are being installed along the southbound (westbound) stretch of the freeway in conjunction with the "5th Lane Project".
