For those of you following the ICC (MD Toll 200), the section from MD 28 to I-95 will be open on Tuesday, November 22nd. Lots of info and links to be found here: https://www.aaroads.com/forum/index.php?topic=1708.100

The new section will be toll free from November 22nd-December 4th. Anyway, Allen (Seth) and Mike and I have thrown talk around about hosting a meet during this time (and there has been a lot of discussion already on my facebook wall). Personally, I'm super stoked and have wanted to host a meet for a while. However, this leaves us with two toll-free weekends to work with: November 26-27 (which is right after Thanksgiving) and December 3-4.

I would rather do the 3rd, but I also don't want to conflict with H.B.'s tri-state meet (speaking of which, H.B., which date did you ultimately choose - the 3rd or the 10th?) I cannot do the 4th due to a family event. I personally have no conflict with the 26-27th, but know that it is part of a holiday weekend and might not be good for others.

I'm open to going later in the month if it works best, but there's something alluring about being toll-free and freshly opened. So shoot me your ideas - here, there (on fb), or anywhere, and I'll further plan a meet.

I'd like to come up and check it out, but this whole time of year is bad for me due to work constraints.

Olive Garden must be stopped.  I must stop them.

Don't @ me. Seriously.

Leaning toward postponing the Ashland-Huntington meet until next spring. Will have a decision within the next week.

Thanksgiving weekend would work best for me. In fact, that's the only weekend I can do at all.

Either weekend under discussion works for me.

I wouldn't completely rule out later weekends when the toll will apply -- there will probably be enough E-ZPass equipped cars there so we can do ride-sharing and avoid the surcharge for cars without transponders.  But that starts running into the holiday season, and only 12/10-11, 12/18. or maybe early 12/17 could work for me.  As Laura says, there's also the allure of fresh pavement to favor an early date.

Careful which weekend you postpone it to. (March 24 is my tentative date)

I unfortunately will not be able to make either date on account of preexisting travel plans which will require that I be elsewhere.

But I will nonetheless get a chance to check it out myself on my way southbound on Black Friday.

Would probably be April, given that I expect UK to be playing in the NCAA tournament and I hesitate to schedule a meet that would conflict with that.

I like the 3rd, for biased reasons. My sister's up here over Thanksgiving, and back down in Baltimore on the 3rd. Plus there are other cool things Thanksgiving weekend that I might plan to do... And for those who might agree "We can do it after it's tolled," the allure of doing it untolled is that you can get your very own notice from MD that you've traveled their toll highway. I have mine, so I volunteer to not drive so that someone else can get theirs.

I mentioned on Facebook that the 3rd is absolutely out for me.  And I believe Jason Ilyes mentioned the same.  Both of us prefer Thanksgiving weekend.

I'm not sure that I could do Thanksgiving weekend. But the locals shouldn't let the availability of someone from the Bluegrass State factor into the decision-making process.

I'm thinking the 26th (Thanksgiving weekend), not only because it seems to be the majority vote, but logistically I'm not sure I want to be hosting a meet AND hosting my brother's birthday party on back-to-back days. (Sorry Steve.)

I'm scouting everything out on Sunday (life permitting) and will have all of the official fancy-schmancy stuff announced by the end of the weekend.

Same here, but I've opted to keep mum about the date selection process (although I think I mentioned my preference of a date on Facebook).

So, just want to check back in. Is this on for Thanksgiving weekend?

Laura

Yes it is! Just posted the official announcement :)
