The shortest us highway is us 730, the shortest interstate i think is i-380 in bristol, virginia.  But what is the shortest state highway in the us (and how short is it distance wise)? feel free to correct me if i'm wrong about the first two statements i made if i was wrong about those, and to mention any other incredibly short highway.

Tennessee 300 is only about a mile and a half. It's entirely inside the city of Memphis.

The original VA 353 was 78 feet.

Indiana 520 west of Michigan City. Only used to connect U.S. 12 and 20 outside Michigan City limits, it runs for all of about 1000 feet.

Indiana 249, about 15 miles further west, would take the cake if it didn't curve east for about a mile (parallel to U.S. 12) to serve the steel mills.

IIRR, the shortest numbered road in TX is http://www.dot.state.tx.us/tpp/hwy/sl/sl0168.htm , Loop 168 in Tenaha.  It goes for 1 block, a total of .074 mile.

The shortest signed highway in Michigan is M-212 at 0.732 miles while I-375 is listed as the shortest signed Interstate at 1.062 miles. I believe I-110 in Texas may be signed now, but I-878 is 0.70 miles. The shortest unsigned highway in Michigan, excluding any orphaned pieces of rerouted highways is Business Spur I-375 at 0.167 miles.

The shortest posted route of any kind I've ever seen in Virginia is F338 on VA 30 at I-95.  The distance from the VA 30 shoulder edge to the END Maintenance sign is something like 20 ft.  GSV seems to show it is no longer posted but I am 99% sure I have a picture of an F338 sign somewhere at home.

Shortest I can think of in Maryland that's not a dead-end or spur of a relocated state highway is Md. 911, part of First Street in the City of Rockville, Montgomery County.

According to the 2011 Highway Location Reference, it is 0.21 miles long, 4 lanes wide and had a 2011 AADT of just over 25,000.

I think Florida's SR 970 is the shortest in its state; it's just a few collector/distributor ramps from US1 to I-95 in downtown Miami. There's about 5 more state roads that are about one mile or less.

Interstates 175 and 375 in Tampa are just over a mile each.

Oklahoma's shortest is OK-40A, at 0.35 miles. It is a spur into Carney from...no, not OK-40. There is no OK-40...it was deleted and replaced by US-177, and 40A was never renumbered to OK-177A. (There is also an orphaned 18A that was never renumbered to be a spur of 177, either.)

265 may be shorter, but Wikipedia is contradictory.  it claims .550 miles for 153, and then both .527 and .7 for 265.

Pretty likely. Could be worth it to have a moderated FAQ -- ie, the site staff adds in the entries.

Sorry, but the roadgeek.org site doesn't work on my laptop nor phone, and the KY website shows a Page Not Found error. Don't get me wrong, I recall the former site was correct, but I also don't have the time to make this stuff up.

Having an on-site FAQ would be a great idea, being that this essentially the foremost collection of authority and expertise on road-going subjects on the web.
