And now, part 5, where I find more atrocious signage

Wow, holy crap, 'atrocious' is putting it mildly....

The sun poking out of the clouds worked against me pretty bad in this one.

But, you weren't getting rained on for that part of the trip... (yeah, I know, not a great trade-off 8)  )

Part 6 is now up. As you can see, the lighting didn't get much better, but I get closer to home. Photos from I-264, VA 191, and VA 337.

And finally, part 7. I focus primarily on VA 125 in the conclusion.

Looks like a whole scale carbon copying of signs on I-95 northbound with Clearview.  I am surprised the light fixtures were retained at the south end of I-295.

The worst part is they didn't update US 460's routing on the new signs. It still disappears southbound, except one BGS that says you take Wagner eastbound to reach it. The old sign said the same thing. There are still a few active lighted signs downtown, but they're not always lit.

What on earth is up with that US 460/VA 109 Fort Lee BGS? It seems like it should have a distance or an arrow on it. It looks strange with shields and a destination but nothing else. (I think the sign that was originally there just made reference to Fort Lee.)

^ Yeah, I thought it was weird. I actually saw it being installed last year. (I may have mentioned that a few times already.)

Anyway, new update from a trip I took out to Powhatan yesterday. In it we have old VA 44 (#2, the one that should be primary again) and a couple of state facility routes of which pictures may or may not be allowed to be posted.

You have some really good photos!
Every day is a winding road, you just got to get used to it.

Great photos from near where I used to live about 18 years ago (about 2 miles from the US 17/VA 135 intersection).

I noticed there are some changes on Shoulders Hill Rd. and where it meets VA 337.  Are there new housing developments or new businesses in that area now?  The last time I went through there, it was just a simple T intersection in the midst of farmland.
I don't need a GPS.  I AM the GPS! (for family and friends)

Takumi

Thanks, both of you. The Shoulders Hill/Nansemond Parkway intersection looks like it's being rebuilt for future development more than anything. There are a few businesses there, and a road going south, but it's nowhere near the level of development seen at Shoulders Hill's intersection with US 17 yet. Less likely, it could also be a side effect of VA 125's seemingly permanent disconnection, providing another alternative to and from the northwest of the city.

With another trip in the books, I'm using the day to burn off the last three parts of this trip. Here's part 6, with I-64 from I-664 to I-564, including the HRBT, and I-564.

Edit 1: here's part 7, with some VA 337 and heading the other direction on VA 164 and I-664.
