In Clinton, Indiana the city speed limit is 29. I was wandering how many places there are that don't have speed limits that end in a 0 or 5. Also I think maybe one time I saw a Speed Limit 3 sign just east of Brail, IN for a dead end end road.

On some of the small "service roads" for Disneyland you can see the following.  I've heard the reason for this is if the speed limit was any higher, Anaheim would have to patrol it.  Not sure if that's true or not.

I think it's one of those topics which keeps coming up in other threads, but doesn't have a dedicated thread of its own.

I assume the OP intends to limit this to regular public roads and not to shopping centers, schools, resorts, retirement homes, etc. (I cite retirement homes because 20 years ago I worked at one that had a "Speed Limit 9" sign out front; it looked fully MUTCD-compliant except for the number.)

In the mid-1990s, James Street in Durham, NC, had a posted speed limit of 27 mph. It was set that way by the city council, though I don't know why. By 2002 it had been revised to 25 pursuant to community requests.

I know rudeness is kind of your schtick, but is it really necessary to react to a new user that way?

I feel like we have had this exact topic, but I cannot confirm this with a brief search.

(I searched for posts I made referring to "James Street" because I thought I remembered mentioning it somewhere before. I see I mentioned the retirement home, too. I might have Alzheimer's, but hey, at least I don't have Alzheimer's.)

alas, I don't have a good solution to "we need to be able to quickly find similar topics".  if I did, I'd probably be putting google out of business.

Amen. New users don't need to be treated this rudely.

There we go. To our newer users: see if something has been discussed already before posting about it. You may find the answer before asking the question! Thank you.
