Just curious, i use wells fargo myself, due to being burned by two other banks for locations (bank of america...no location in the dakotas near me at all, and the base bank that was convient, but no branches outside of a few military bases)

USAA Federal Savings bank is great if you are a current or former service member in the armed forces.

Caisse populaire Beauharnois (Beauharnois Credit Union), which is part of a huge credit union federation in eastern Canada called Desjardins.

They also have three bank branches in Florida.

I have no justification for why beyond that it's what my parents use, and thus has the benefit of familiarity. I'm not too too crazy about them, but I figure devil you know versus devil you don't know...

I keep some in a US Bank account since those are everywhere in the west but where I live, and then I keep some in a local bank here since the town I live in has no real chain banks. US Bank is fine for storing my checking account, but if I ever get into a situation where I'm dealing with loans, I'd rather deal with one of the local banks here (assuming I still live here when I start a mortgage).

Formerly HSBC, currently First Niagara.  I was also a member of the Eastman Savings & Loan credit union when I lived in Rochester.

I switched from Chemical Bank (the Michigan one, not the defunct New York one) to PNC Bank so that I'd have branches both by home and by college when I'm living away. Chemical was the best I've ever had, but PNC is decent, even though everyone else seems to hate them.

Funny how banking can be so subjective. One of my best friends has the infamously bad Bank of America and has never experienced a single problem.

Speaking of which...

I used to have Wells Fargo, and they treated me horribly. Sent tons of junk mail, called at all hours for me to take surveys, and repeatedly signed me up for "trial" programs that I'd have to drop myself after the first month to not get billed, and online banking/online credit card accounts wouldn't sync.  Yet all of my local friends, who signed up at the same branch, went through none of that. :paranoid:

None. I have two credit unions (after being handled by a bank while I was in the military).

When I got my first checking account, it was Provident Bank. Provident was then purchased by National City, which in turn was bought by PNC. I never changed banks, yet I changed banks twice.

Hey, it could be worse. Michigan National became Standard Federal became LaSalle Bank became Bank of America in a 7 year period.

I keep my personal money in a credit union and my business money in a bank. Both are local to Oklahoma with branches statewide.
