Things like this thread are why the chat should be revived/used more. This stuff here (the one-sentence reply type stuff) isn't a discussion suited for a forum. This is for something like Discord.

There's been a certain .... element that has been much more than dominating of late.  It's rather off-putting.

Nah, it's definitely more of a compound. The problem is they keep bonding with a steady flow of attention. If the attention is diverted and/or ignored, the compound breaks down.

Well, it's almost as if some sort of takeover is happening.  Maybe a post-count race.  I thought that was discouraged here.

Trying really hard not to use words like "shitposting" around here, but there seems to be a lot of it, and it's mostly from just one person.  Just sayin'.

And all of it seemingly to impress a girl. 

Might not even be because she's (presumably) a girl.  Could just be to impress anyone and feel like he's part of a social group.  I know of one autistic person who bullied me simply because other people (the ones who actually targeted me) would tell him things like "good job" and make him feel like they were friends whenever he would.  And when I was in first grade, people were able to do something similar with me.  I got in trouble many times before the teachers figured out what was going on.

The chat is fairly active in the evenings. However, they don't exactly like teenagers on there (justified IMO).

OK, it's been established that this Mary Hannah is a real person Tolbs knows who is an ECU graduate. But why would she have an interest in this forum, and why would she tell Tolbs to make some silly off-topic post here? That all has not yet been explained to anyone's satisfaction.

Besides, any discussions on Peekaboo (Picabo) should go in an Olympics thread, right?

And unless I've missed something as this discussion devolved into "Mary Hannah made me do it," how did we miss not including any Tim Brown threads in this listing?

The way I'm seeing this scenario there are several plausible answers:

-  Exactly as vdeane stated.
-  A girl leading a naive guy on. (Mary Hannah has been established as a real person and I'm just assuming tolbs is a male)
-  Both the above. 
-  Tolbs just got called out for making stupid posts and made up something to shift the blame.
