Boring road signs that are neither best nor worst

Speaking of signs: don't you all love signs in the middle of the sidewalk...and they can be a surprise. 2-some weeks ago, I ride my bike to struck a sign pole. It just came "out of nowhere", but I was distracted riding. My left shoulder-blade and arm were impacted and my right hand had little cuts. Luckily, my face and head (I had my helmet) are alright.

And what's the point of this thread?  :-| Boring, unimaginative designed road signs. Yeah, that's the point.
Get your kicks...on Route 99! Like to turn 66 upside down. The other historic Main street of America.

OT question regarding that particular sign is how long will its message still be relevant?  The reason for its presence today is obvious but what about a year or two from now when the majority of the traffic in the area gets accustomed to the new operations.

Case and point (granted this next example does not necessarily fall into the boring category) this square warning sign giving a "heads-up" regarding a new STOP sign being posted has been here since 1989.  Due to GSV-close-up blurring the words, the full message reads WARNING NEW STOP SIGN w/a small left arrow & the small text on the bottom lists the city (Salem) ordinance authorizing such.

After 25 years, we're well past NEW lol.  :sombrero:

Heh....I still refer to the Central Grounds Parking Garage in Charlottesville (for those who know the UVA Grounds, it's the garage next to Mem Gym with the University Bookstore on top of it) as the "new garage on Emmet Street."

It opened in 1994 or 1995. But since it wasn't there during my first year, and it opened during my final year as a student, I regard it as "new."  :-D

What are you doing riding a vehicle (bicycle) on the sidewalk anyway?

In NE2's photo, how is "Garcon" pronounced? Normally I would expect to see that little accent mark under the "c" in that word.

Generally speaking, it's acceptable to leave accents off of capital letters.
I don't think the cedille qualifies as an accent.
I was taught that it does, but it's been quite some time since I've taken a French class, or done anything significant with the language. YMMV.

I do know that the French alphabet is 26 letters long, as opposed to some languages that append accented letters and/or various digraphs as separate letters.

In this thread, I mentioned that the amount of times a directional banner appears on a Mercer County, NJ 6xx route can be counted on one hand; I believe this is still true but as of Friday, that can probably be counted using all the fingers on said hand (assuming you still have all your fingers). It's also just interesting to me since this is the first time I've seen the full-yellow outline used on a CR shield in the wild rather than the blue with yellow offset. The arrows are a bit big, though this has been a problem for years.

(EDIT: Hi-res photo of east 641 shield)
