Quote from: vdeane on July 25, 2024, 09:16:13 PMThe fact that resealable bags of frozen vegetables aren't a thing.  When opening one you just have to hope and pray that it doesn't tear the wrong way and become impossible to wrap around so the remainder can be put back in the freezer.  I usually end up using scissors, especially since the bags my local grocery store uses are a harder plastic than most, making them difficult to open; they need more force, but that comes at the expense of control.  Seriously, how many people actually make an entire bag all at once?  A single bag can easily last me an entire week.

I open the bag with scissors, once I've taken out enough for one meal I roll the bag closed and then put a clothespin over the rolled top.

I'm so lazy, I just eat the whole thing.

Any year can be much hotter or much cooler than usual. But with man-made climate change, the anomalies get more extreme and unpredictable, while the overall baseline for normal temperatures creeps upward.

That's not true.

You either didn't read what you quoted or you didn't read the link that you linked.
Bruce claimed that the weather would get more unpredictable thanks to global warming, my article says the opposite

No, it doesn't.  You're assuming linear temperature change = predictable weather.

Well, I suppose that we do have to do whatever we can to head off the new Global Ice Age that we were so seriously promised and was drilled into us when I was in high school and the university.

Thus, 'Climate Change Alarmists' are definitely one minor thing that bothers me.

Maybe not climate researchers but there are definitely corporations that are making a lot of money off of this green energy thing. Just like electric cars. Every day we're finding out more and more they're not as great for the environment as they were touted to be. Same thing with windmills. We need to be building more nuclear power plants for clean energy. Luckily, there is talk about reopening shut down power plants, but that's a long process. We need to be building more. China has a long-term plan to build a shit ton of them. They're building a lot of plants, but that's temporary until they can build enough nuclear reactors to plant most of their energy needs. France gets the most amount of nuclear. Big green energy is definitely a thing.

But yes, climate changes is a problem. I'll tell you a movie that's supposed to be kind of funny but scared me was don't look up. It's on Netflix if you haven't seen it you should check it out.

Rothman's comment reminds me of the old joke about two men who are bemoaning their surgery and a nearby woman, who always wants to butt in, says that she had that too and the recovery was awful. The two men look at her strangely: "Really? When did you have a vasectomy?"

If it was so seriously promised, how come it's completely absent from 1970s science fiction? Soylent Green in fact portrays the opposite: a world made unbearably hot by the greenhouse effect.

Same thing with unused toll plazas. Like when the George Bush Turnpike in Dallas went cashless, After all these years, they still have the tollgates up. Remove them. Tear them down. Plant some trees there.

I looked at the satellite view and found a ramp stub at that spot, similar to what you see a lot of in Baltimore (and maybe less so in other places), so I assumed that was the issue.
