I'm most likely gonna go to Baltimore, MD on the 24th or 25th this month.

Roanoke's chances are starting to climb back up a little, while I have a possible timeframe for the VA Beach Trip.

I might also try to go back to SE Georgia sometime early next month, maybe even this month before Baltimore if I still haven't gone to Roanoke or VB.

To whoever liked my previous post, the road trip I was seeking was supposed to happen today. Sadly, that's not going to happen. It may not even happen next week, and I hope I'm wrong about that.

If you click on the notation about the number of people who like your post, it'll tell you who they are. Works on other people's posts, too (I tried it on yours and saw who liked it).

I forgot, and I clicked on the notation to find out again, and it didn't tell me anything. I read it once, and I couldn't find it again.

UPDATE; Okay, I see what I did wrong. I tried to find out by clicking on the notations in my alerts tab.

Forgot to add my plans for the summer but August is featuring 4 weekends in a row of road trips

August 3rd I did my annual trip to Road America in Elkhart Lake WI
August 9th-12th I went to New Buffalo MI for the weekend.

Later today I head back to Michigan, this time to South Haven for a wedding. Between last week and this weekend, it's my first time visiting Michigan in over 10 years.

And finally the big one is to Minneapolis for another wedding. This one I will finally clinch I-94 in WI as I'll be taking that road going up to Minnesota. Way back home I'll use the usual 39/90 routing. This is my first return to Minnesota since 2016.
The local weatherman, trust me I can be 99.9% right!

The Cape Charles Trip is confirmed for Friday, 9/20 and I will come back home on the 22nd. I also have a trip to Lynchburg planned for October 11th.

Unfortunately, I'll most likely be putting the flame out for the Roanoke Trip and probably the Virginia Beach Trip.

Getting in an anniversary weekend trip to Door County this weekend.

Taking the family to Mackinaw City and Mackinac Island in October. Hope to clinch a state highway via bicycle.
Indiana: counties 100%, highways 100%
Illinois: counties 100%, highways 61%
Michigan: counties 100%, highways 56%
Wisconsin: counties 86%, highways 23%

I just did a four-day, 1,100 mile loop through Ohio, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Tennessee.
Government would be tolerable if not for politicians and bureaucrats.

My wife has had foot surgery and that's kept me around the home a lot taking care of her.  Still, she gives me a day off every so often and I've been heading out on daytrips.  Pretty much have the goal of visiting all the cities and towns in the state now (not many left), although the remaining ones on Long Island will wait a good long while until I take my wife to Shelter and Block Islands someday.  Might get around to the villages sometime; probably will still have 100+ of those to do when the cities and towns are done, most on Long Island.

Got a trip to Texas in October to see the F1 race with my daughter.

Wife and I just started planning a trip to Utah in December...

And then, there will be a trip to Georgia at some point, but probably won't happen until 2025.

I just did a quick weekend road trip from suburban Chicago to Nashville for the Packers game. On the way down, clinched 5 more counties. On the way back, I hit the 300k mile milestone on my van about 40 miles from home.

Cities and towns? Wow. That's a whole new level. And it's not like NY is a small state. Is there a pop threshold or any named incorporated place?

Everything in NY is incorporated, either as a city or a town.

Egads, you're having an off day.

Hamlets in NY are not incorporated, but parts of towns or villages.

More interesting are the Nations.  I've seen mixed sources on whether or not their land counts as parts of municipalities.  Pretty interesting.

"Everything is incorporated" means "there are no unincorporated areas", not "everything with a name is the name of an incorporated municipality".

Aren't hamlets a thing and therefore part of everything? :D

ETA:  In other words, some people who don't know any better would think a hamlet like Loudonville is incorporated, when it isn't.

Well, my attempted North Central Florida day trips have been delayed over and over again. In early August, it was delayed by a second bout of COVID-19. Later on after I recovered from that (assuming I even had it), I got stung by another hornet, which sent me to the hospital... again! Then there was Hurricane Debby, and now Hurricane Helene!

It isn't incorporated itself, but it's part of Colonie, which is.

To the original point, that makes the concept of visiting all cities and towns in NY quite a bit different (and much simpler, actually) than it would be in a state with large swaths of unincorporated area.

Still doesn't change the fact that Loudonville isn't incorporated. which is my point.  Saying everything is incorporated means someone'll assume every named place in NY is incorporated.

Not sure how having all incorporated areas make things simpler.  When you have just unincorporated county land, it reduces the percentage of land area of the state that you have to cover.  It's more of a connect-the-dots exercise than hitting every square of a grid on a Battleship board.

And then, adding in the villages to NY is a real big pain, since there are 531 of them on top of the 995 cities and towns.

Simpler doesn't necessarily mean easier. It just brings a lot more clarity about the task on hand. I'd much rather battleship-style than having to figure out what 5 spots to hit in one area, 10 in another, and then zero in some areas... but possibly 1 or 2 depending on your metric... it complicates quickly.

I didn't know villages were part of this exercise, but if they are that's a whole different conversation.  :)

I'll take Kentucky's, what, 418 incorporated municipalities over NY's 1,526 incorporated municipalities any day.  Shoot, now I'm wondering how many of them I've been to, having just driven around the Jackson Purchase extensively "recently."

Boundaries actually extend beyond the gate, per State GIS and the Village's own zoning map.
