Quote from: Memory AlphaBlue alert (also code blue or condition blue) was an alert signal status on Starfleet vessels and outposts which was called for in exceptional situations, including, but not limited to, environmental hazards to the crew, main power failure, docking and separation maneuvers, and landing protocols, for ships with the capability.

Texas did have a main power failure recently, but I don't know if they called a blue alert then. Presumably they would also call one if they separated into five different states.

The fact that my bank often emails me that my quarterly statement for my savings account is available when it's not actually available yet, forcing me to keep the message in my inbox for a few days until it is finally ready.

I seriously need to know who thought this was beneficial for anything. No matter if the bottle cap ends up in the bin or not, it will end up in the environment eventually anyways (through a dump or otherwise), so what's the point?!

That's what they call water in Europe when it is not carbonated - the opposite of sparkling.

It's also what they call it here. :)

Whereas in Russia I remember they asked if we wanted "gas" (meaning carbonated).

Or perhaps they were referring to the byproduct. :D

Yeah. That mandate killed the once popular (in Spain at least) method of bottle cap collecting as a fundraising means.

And now I notice, that is what I see on an earlier post:

Maybe don't have access to the YouTube video I posted?

Exactly. "This video contains content from WMG who has blocked it in your country on copyright grounds". And due to that, from my viewpoint your post amounts to what I quoted: nothing at all.

Amazon Prime Days and pricing. I'm looking for a mini PC that I'm going to repurpose into a test web server, and I found one with 2.5 Gigabit pricing and 32GB of RAM. The price on Monday if you remember to clip the online coupon, was ten dollars less than the price today with no coupon offered.

The funny part is that the plan was wipe the computer and install ISPConfig so that I have a Linux-based test web server.

Agreed. The deals are garbage. They raise the price on things just to discount it again and call it a great deal. Informed consumers always win.

I've been following the price of a specific Southwest Airlines flight.  It had been $160 for quite a while.

Last week Southwest put a big banner across the top of their home page.  "Use points to purchase a flight, use this code and get 25% off the number of points you have to use.  3 days only for this offer!!"

The value of Southwest points is fixed at about 1.5 cents per point.  When I looked up the flight, I found that they had raised the cash price from $160 to $220.  25% off $220 brings the price to $165 worth of points.

And of course, now that the fantastic 25% off points deal has expired, the cash price of that flight has dropped back to $160.

I use a site called CamelCamelCamel to track prices of products that I'm interested in. The problem is that only the third-party price is being captured, not the Amazon price, so I have no price history to look back on it.

Anyways, this is something that is "kinda nice to have", but it can wait. I would not have a good chance to set it up until Thanksgiving or Christmas anyways.

It is extremely annoying when companies do things like that. Another common one at Tops (a local supermarket) is to put items on BOGO deals but then double the unit price, so if you don't price watch like a hawk you end up paying more per unit than you would elsewhere.

When I worked at Stop & Shop, things like this surprisingly didn't happen. Sometimes it would go $3.29 → $3.49 ($3.29 on sale) → $3.49, but only when there were permanent price increases due to inflation. The only items that had the base price ever go down were those that fluctuated every week like eggs.
