And back then there were placeholders so content wouldn't move everything when it loads.  Sometime within the past 15 years or so, browsers dropped support for that for no good reason.

Every once in a while someone will come onto a signage group I'm part of asking for an insane price.  Rather than being properly shunned by the group they get instead get lots of comments and reactions.

An example of this tonight was in a California Porcelain signage group on Facebook.  One of the members was asking $25,000 for ten Auto Club signs.  While the signs were nice, there wasn't a single piece in the lot that should be doing for anywhere near $1,000.

I guess it really just takes one gullible person to make a big sale...  All the same, I'm sure most of the signs I saw today will make the gas & oil show rounds for way less than.  If something positive came out of it I guess that I found someone to add to my block list.

That's another thing that annoys me—pages that move right as you go to click or tap on a link such that you wind up clicking on something other than what you intended.

I'm bothered by houses that only have their front façade made out of brick or stone, with the rest of the house with some drab typical siding.

You would hate my house then. (The front has brick on 1/3 of the building. The front siding was replaced in 2011 because hail damage, the rest was not.

I lived in one of those for six years.

This is pretty much my house.  I have a rancher - the bottom part of the front is brick; the top half and other 3 walls were siding.  The neighborhood was constructed in the 1950's with 3 options - what we have, all brick in the front, or no brick.  Most houses are my style.

When we moved into the house we actually had 3 types of siding - asbestos on the front and side of the original house.  An addition had been constructed, enlarging the back end of the house. Along the new sides of the house, the contractor used non-asbestos siding that matched closely with the existing siding. The back wall was aluminum siding.  All were painted uniformly.

When we got new Rothman-unapproved vinyl siding a number of years ago, we now have matching siding around the house.

I approve of vinyl siding.

I disapprove of the one-wall-is-stone ugliness.

How battery gauges on computers are like gas gauges on cars.  Just like the needle drops fast below one quarter tank to empty faster than above one quarter the battery indicater goes from 10 percent to zero in a faster time than all the ten percent increments above ten percent.

Battery capacity indicators on electronic devices are unreliable anyway, especially once the battery ages to the point of unusability.  My last phone would go into forced shutdown due to zero remaining charge and then show 60% or more the instant it was plugged back in.

Tire rebates.  Instead of sending you a check, then send one of those prepaid gift cards that are tricky to get every dollar out of.  Also, the rebate requires that the name/address match the receipt exactly; my name is misspelled and the receipt has my old apartment instead of my current one.  That certainly complicates things, assuming I can still get one with these issues.

Sonic frequently advertises having beverages of every color in the rainbow... and it grosses me out. Intermission shorts used to do the same thing.

In some bulletin boards similar in operation to this one, clicking on the topic title takes you to the first unread message.  On this one, it takes you to the beginning of the topic.  I'm always clicking on the topic title instead of the "new" button out of habit.  But how often would people really want to start reading the topic again at page 1, rather than where they left off?

I know. I get that so often. Nobody believes me when I tell them that computers make me do things I don't want to do. This is a clear example of how that happens.

I don't recall using any like that, but I haven't used a non-SMF board in years.  That seems like it would be annoying, on the off chance I did want to go back to the start of a thread.

Wouldn't it be more convenient to take you to the first unread message, then, since going to the start of the thread would be an off-chance, rather than the norm?

If you can, use Frank Sinatra. If you can't, use Valley View and cut over to LVB when you get close-ish. (Using Koval can also help but it's not an option this weekend due to F1.)

Used Frank Sinatra Drive and Dean Martin Drive quite bit this week.  I wrote my previous post after sitting on southbound Decatur Boulevard at the light for eastbound CC 215 for at least two minutes.
