Are y'all trolling me with the refusal to understand "I want the bank account balance to be higher than before the transaction happened and I don't want to spend the money" or have Americans huffed the capitalist glue so severely that the tube is stuck up our collective nostril now?

Maybe I just want to have something in the bank in case my car breaks down or something. Jesus.

I don't want a $500 Amazon gift card instead of $500 cash. I don't mind a $50 Amazon gift card instead of $50 cash because I will likely spend the gift card on something in a month or two.

We might just have different spending habits. I get a lot of household goods through Amazon subscriptions -- toilet paper, paper towels, kitty litter, etc. So I'm guaranteed to spend the money on Amazon throughout the month. So, if instead of having the cost for these things automatically debited from my account (I use a CC in reality), if I had an Amazon GC, then, at the end of the month, my account would necessarily be higher than had I not had the GC.

Maybe you have a firm grasp of recognizing what are actually "wants" and "needs" along with a strong desire to avoid financial stress in your life with the unexpected expense of a car breakdown, home repair, or a medical emergency.

Of course, this leaves me wondering if all those people who hoarded toilet paper at the beginning of Covid five years ago thinking it would be the next currency are doing with their stockpiles now.

Highly doubt anyone hoarded five years' worth.

If they did, presumably they're coming up on the end of those supplies. It's hard to believe, but this March marks five years since everything shut down.

I can't remember Carrie asking me to do that, mainly because we hardly spend any time downstairs.  But, if she did, then why would it bother you?

I literally just told you I can't remember her having ever done that.

I just saw something saying that because today is Martin Luther King Day, it is "an official day of service." "Official"? According to whom? It's a holiday. Anyone can use the day off in whatever way that person wants.

It's like in advertising. This your official sporting goods store, etc.

The word official is the opinion of the one saying it.
Every day is a winding road, you just got to get used to it.

Context means everything.  With regard to whoever or whatever entity said it, it might mean that today counts as a workday for purposes of seniority, service time accrual, time off accrual, etc.

I'm getting paid today.  That being the case I'm using it to take my time at the gym and go get some lightbulbs from the local Ag store that still carries what I need.

I have no problem with community service being encouraged.

Does getting new photos and stuff for my site count as service?  Because if so, I did about 8 hours of service.

Speaking of pages, I started breaking down a 1900 surveyor report on the existing roads in Yosemite National Park.  They are incredibly dry reads but have invaluable information about stuff like toll rates and toll franchise revenue.  I figure anything I can do to expand upon the knowledge the pre-20th century road system in California is the closest thing I'm likely to do which resembles community service.

Minor thing: when you pop a pimple and you think you've got it all out, even to the point of bleeding. Yet a day later, there is is, back again like it never left, and you have to pop it again, and double squeeze to make sure you got it all.

Dermatologists are pretty unanimous in their opinion that you should not pop zits or cysts or any other cutaneous abscess as they will simply come back.

Yeah, I've never popped a pimple. I always used Clearasil or similar, or even rubbing alcohol a few times, to dry it out and then it goes away on its own.
