Pfft.  All I see is a paywall, but if it's just defending their trademark, that's required of Buc-ee's by law.

What they are claiming is quite questionable:

Surprisingly, while I saw this story in several places on Facebook, I've seen no mention of it on FreewayJim or any other of the road-related groups there.

Personally, I don't get it. The SuperFuels logo looks nothing like Buc-ee's.
Government would be tolerable if not for politicians and bureaucrats.

Nah.  Fair game given how stupid our trademark laws are.

"Any cartoon animal in a circle" is not something Buc-ee's can legitimately claim trademark protection over, given that they are far from the first to do that.

They are the sort of plaintiffs that are called, in legal terminology, "fucking assholes".

Off forum there is a couple infamous Buc-ee's apologists.  It has been amusing getting them spun up over this. I'm surprised more of them aren't biting on their favorite brand being called "Bul-ee's."

I like Buc-ee's, but that's a bullshit lawsuit and it should be tossed out of court. At this point Buc-ee's is suing any c-store chain that dares have a cartoon character mascot in its brand.

The only similarity I can see between the Super Fuels mascot logo and Buc-ee's logo is both have circle shapes in the background. Buc-ee's can't claim ownership of the circle shape. It's just like the fact you can't claim a copyright or trademark on a letter shape (which is why we have look-alike clone fonts of typefaces such Helvetica).

No animals, real or cartoon, in that one.

That's kind of an odd location (I-35 @ Yarrington Rd). Slip ramps are well away from the intersection. I'm guessing the Buc-ee's location will be a bit South of the Exit 208 ramp from Southbound I-35.

It is kind of odd they're building a super store like that when there is another one a short drive farther South in New Braunfels. But that one is on the East side of the highway and easier for Northbound traffic to reach.

Chester's has an animal in their logo with a red hat.  Buc-ee's is going to sue also and demand their net profit as restitution.

Here's a small C-store chain in Colorado that (in Buc-ees eyes) may be too close to their logo...

They're lucky they don't already have Disney's army of attorneys going up their ass with lawsuits. My first thought was Chip and Dale when seeing that cartoon character.
