And 4 years after that article was written, Terminal 2 departed (pun intended)

Indeed, certainly wasn't the most pleasant building to take a flight from.

More computer problems. My PC isn't letting me edit any of my photos. I keep going through all this work of blocking my SunPass codes, and license plates and what not, and it acts like it's not stopping me. Then when I go back to these photos, it STAYS ON THE ORIGINAL VERSIONS!!

And I've already prepared the new Wikimedia Commons category for the northbound Martin County Truck Weigh Station. But I'm not going to do a damn thing unless this FUCKING BULLSHIT COMPUTER lets me do what I've been trying to do!!

The base safety department at work has been pushing for pedestrians to not wear headphones or hearing devices while walking or jogging on sidewalks.  While I recognize that is an actual UCMJ regulation for pedestrians it seems asinine to make it such a focal points on safety trainings and at meetings.  I find it more maddening given I've been dealing with a building maintaining fire watch due to a FACP undergoing replacement (which requires removal of the old device).

By the way, am I the only one who can't help but think of this whenever I read or hear "DOGE" in the news?

I think of the historical term for rulers of Venice, but then I've always found history interesting.

We are not alone.  This meme exists (credited to user Super-Furet on DeviantArt).

The break up of diversified companies. I for one think it's cool when one company is involved in a variety of different industries, but as of late, activist investors have declared that every corporation can only focus on one thing, most recently telling Honeywell that it can't make simultaneously manufacture aircraft components, automation equipment, and advanced materials and has to break up into 3.

Yeah, Amazon should just go back to books.

I'll say it before, and I'll say it again... if your audio from your device can be heard by others in a public place, and it isn't a ringtone or a notification beep, IT'S TOO DAMN LOUD. I have observed the following:
  • Someone watching a video without any headphones in a restaurant. This person was a over-60 person.
  • Someone who is wearing headphones, but I still could heard the music. This was a person in their 20s, and I could already see hearing aids in the future.
This is why I now carry earbuds in my pocket when I go out, but since they are noise cancelling, I don't hear someone when they call my name. At least I have the decency to say that I'm wearing noise cancelling headphones.

The lack of CD players in New automobiles.

To me I miss the day you pop into your CD player and you just listen to an album you  like as an alternative to the radio.

Tape decks stopped being included in cars in 2009, and CD players around 2021 per a quick Google search. CD players and tape players had to be engineered differently from home models because of space constraints as well as the more harsh environment whether it be the Minnesota winter or the Arizona summer. Thats around five points of weight and mechanics that is easily replaced by an extremely light Bluetooth chip.

While both my 2013 and 2016 model year vehicles have Bluetooth, USB connectivity, and CD players, I haven't use the USB or CD players in ages, as I prefer to stream everything through my phone to my radio. This includes my media server which has "rips" of all my CDs.

To me I choose not to link my phone to my car radio.  I have set reasons why I don't want to the two devices communicating to each other.

I don't like my phone to tell me where I'm driving to as I crank the starter.  I also don't like my song I'm listening to interrupted due to a telemarketer calling me as I drive.

On to another note is when you receive an ad for something that will protect the consumer. They start to tell you why you need it before they actually ask you what we think it is?  Like they are going to reveal the answer. Then they brag about the results of what they didn't tell you.

Why not say what it is! Why waist 15 minutes to rehash the fact you need it and that it actually works and not tell you the it?

Movies that would have you believe cutting someone's brake lines is an effective means of murder. In reality, as soon as the driver got in and depressed the brake pedal to start the ignition, they would know immediately something was wrong.

I always assumed the plot device was the hydraulic fluid leaking out gradually until there was a total system failure.  Either way, in theory the driver could use lower gears to at least slow down.

Then again, I'm willing to suspend my disbelief quite a bit to enjoy a movie.  If movies perfectly emulated reality then they wouldn't be an interesting medium.

What really bugs me is the fact that people insist on having conversations while they are taking a dump, trying to check out at the store, or anything else where third parties can overhear the discussion.

The old IT guy at work was infamous for trying to engage people in conversation while they were using the restroom.  He tried it on me once.  In response I told him that I wasn't having a conversation while taking a leak because it was weird.  Dude was kind of taken aback by what I said and left the restroom.  He never tried to talk to me in the restroom thereafter.  I guess score one for being tactful.

To me I miss the day you pop into your CD player and you just listen to an album you  like as an alternative to the radio.

My work-issued vehicle has Sirius XM, (they don't pay for the service) but it doesn't have a CD player.  Many times I have to go through desolate areas with little to no cell coverage. So that leaves  me limited AM and FM choices.

For about $50, you can get a decent portable rechargable CD player with Bluetooth and USB connectivity and can also wirelessly play on a FM frequency of your choice.  I have a small CD holder case that fits about 20-25 CDs which I change out every couple of weeks.  It fits snugly into one of the cubby holes in the center console.

Overall it works great, though some of the CD volumes are so soft, I have to crank the radio volume to the max.

So at least I can always hear music of my liking pretty much everywhere.
