As for P13, he never mentioned sex, even during the debacle a few days before he was banned. I was paying very close attention, since I wanted him banned and a single mention would have been sufficient cause for a ban due to the circumstances.
I'm talking about the incident in P13 in one thread where several posts were deleted by JN Winkler.

I don't think P13 quite realized the double meaning of some of what he was saying, and when the rest of us clearly did recognize them and started making jokes about them (which in turn led to the deletion you reference) I don't think P13 understood what we were saying. Whether that's because he's too young to understand, too sheltered, or some other reason, who knows.

If someone goes into explicit detail about what they want another person to do with a toilet they are likely getting banned.

Clean it, using Lysol Toilet Bowl Gel that is in the cabinet under the sink and the brush sitting behind it. Perhaps let the gel sit there for a minute or two to help soften any grime that might be there. Scrub for up to 30 seconds, making sure to get under the rim and on top of the rim for any errant splatter. They take a Lysol Wipe and wipe down all surfaces getting rid of dust and toilet paper fuzz.

Explicit enough?

Quote from: SectorZ on March 26, 2025, 09:19:10 AMThe guy here who get banned from reddit had to make a thread with a similar title to this and made solely to discuss something regarding his sexuality.

https://www.aaroads.com/forum/index.php?topic=35812.0
I read that as more of a bit of amusement at the street rather than says "look at me, I'm gay!", but I guess that's probably the first most people heard about it if they weren't following the Mac discussion on the humanoid robot thread.  Kinds reminds me of how people accuse gay people of "shoving their sexuality down our throats" when the gay person is simply existing and doing nothing that straight people don't do all the time.

Quote from: SEWIGuy on March 26, 2025, 09:30:09 AMBut I don't think its corporate greed when companies are creating goods that people want that are more expensive. I'm not spending $80,000 on a car, but if someone wants to, it certainly isn't the car manufacturers fault for providing it. Ditto for housing. I can't blame builders for constructing nothing but McMansion types of houses because people are willing to buy them.
Problem: there are absolutely people who would go for a more basic/less expensive car or house (I don't even WANT that much space to clean or yard to take care of; a 2-3 bedroom ranch house with a garage and central HVAC system on a small lot would be my ideal, but they don't build those any more - if they ever did).  But there's more profit to be made in telling those prospective customers to pound sand because the margins are higher on luxury cars and McMansions.

I wonder if this is partly because most of those people are also willing to buy used instead of new.

From what I gather on this forum it seems like most who buy similar compact cars as me get them on the used market.  All well and good I suppose but that supply will gradually dwindle since automakers are pulling away from more entry level segments.

It won't. Not as long as wealthy Long Islanders exist. And I support not doing anything. If they want to live on a dead end, then that's their choice. Tired of wasting money on studies and plans that will go nowhere. Move on, let's work on bridges we already have.

(Tongue in Cheek) A bridge from East LI to Rhode Island would make it possible to drive directly from Fire Island to Provincetown. That makes it an issue of social justice for the LGBT community.

Should I insinuate this as an insult against my sexuality?

I'm gay myself, though I don't see how that could be construed as homophobic

Meanwhile, I'm leery of the used market because you don't know how the car was maintained and what issues are lurking under the surface.  And reliability is very important to me, given that there's nothing worse than having car trouble when you're on the road.  Alas, I'll probably be forced to at some point given that even the automakers that still make sedans are including a bunch of stuff I don't want and hooking the cars in to surveillance capitalism with connectivity and data selling.

I forget which thread I noted it in but as much as I like the 2024 Corolla I bought some of the standard safety features are frustrating to live with.  The adaptive cruise control is something I can now manage but is easily the worst feature on the car.

Perish the thought over a similar basic car costing 30k with another 6-8 years of inflation.

Our house would probably sell for about 400k and is only 1,650 square feet.  It cost about $25,000 to replace the HVAC last year.  Hopefully I'll get another twenty years out of this unit because that sucked having to pay for after keeping the old system alive for so long.
