So no park reservation is required before summer begins?

This year they start June 15th and go to August 15th.  The hours of enforcement are 6 AM to 2 PM.  I can easily beat that 6 AM start time but my wife isn't keen on getting up and on the road so early:

As an aside, the Coulterville Road (high clearance) doesn't have anyone enforcing even the park entrance fee.  I believe this is also the case on Chowchilla Mountain Road (another high clearance road) but I'm unclear if there is a gate at the park boundary.  I might have better insight soon as I plan to drive Chowchilla Mountain Road this summer.

Some photos from Chowchilla Mountain Road.  This was a stage road between Mariposa and Wawona constructed in 1870.  I'm unclear if it goes all the way to Yosemite National Park since I stopped at Battalion Pass.  This road is pretty badass and haggard for something maintained by a county (Mariposa County).  I needed AWD even in dry conditions a couple times and there was no way a car was getting much past the "impassable NOV-MAY" sign.  I'll be trying a hike from the Wawona Hotel west along this road to Battalion Pass in the Fall.

Apparently, this is the head of the East Fork Chowchilla River.

Raynor Ranch Road straddling the Mariposa County and Merced County line.  This is one of the few identifiable roadways left which was part of the Stockton-Los Angeles Road (established circa 1853).
