New sign from the US 59 Diboll bypass... with perhaps the worst arrow placement I've ever seen.

We need a new thread called "Actually absolutely no kidding worst garbage not just mediocre road signs".  Maybe then people would think three times before posting.

^ It looks like a town name was meant to go in that spot.

Here's an arrow on the wrong side of the bow:

If that had been an at-grade intersection, I'd've assumed someone at TDOT had just simply made a sign for the left turn and swapped-out the arrow for the right turn without moving it.

Interestingly, the sign on the other side of the road and interchange is correct.
May or may not be batticorn.

I also collect traffic lights, road signs, fans, and railroad crossing equipment.

This is probably a re-post but...

I don't even know what to say...

It's not necessarily a sign per se, but it's a very sus combination of a 2-way stop and a signal. When the green light shows, you still apparently have to come to a stop at the stop sign and take turns with vehicles on the side street. There is no separate stop bar for the signal... the stop sign and the signal share the same stop bar.
I can drive 55 ONLY when it makes sense.

There were a lot of intersections like that in Massachusetts when I grew up there. I don't know if they still do, or what MUTCD says about it. The presence of stop signs at traffic lights simply means that the stop signs take over if the traffic light is out of order. When the lights are working, you ignore the stop signs.

While that would make sense, I first heard about this intersection from a traffic lawyer's Instagram page, and apparently they are dead-set on writing tickets here... tl;dr the most restrictive condition prevails unless you get a good judge.

To me, it just looks like two intersections with no room between them for storage.  Little different than the stop bar being in advance of a railroad crossing.

I've been around much of Massachusetts, including looking at pretty much every intersection in the eastern quarter of the state in GSV in 2018-2020 where at least one of the roads wasn't solely residential (other people were assigned the rest of the state). I never saw this except where the light was a flasher. It's definitely not widespread in Massachusetts anymore.

There is a Tulare County Mountain Road 50A which serves as a driveway into a Senior Center in California Hot Springs.  The weird thing is that it beings at Tulare County Mountain Road 56 (Hot Springs Road) and doesn't touch Mountain Road 50.  Mountain Road 50 (Parker Pass Road) starts about a mile to the east at USFS Work Center.

Looks like those should be controlled as part of the signal but NYC cheaped out and went with stop signs and their usually setup.  In other places, those two legs would be signal controlled as part of the intersection.

Looks like 4th and 6th are the signalized intersection while 4th and Cornelia is an "all way" stop (that only has two legs, because of one ways) right on top of it.  Because that's not confusing at all.

It would certainly be better if Cornelia were oriented in the other direction to simplify the intersection.

Looking a bit further out, it's interesting that there are so many of these parallel streets oriented in the same direction.  Barrow, Jones, and Cornelia all head eastbound toward W 4th.

Am I missing something that makes that one of the "worst" signs?

hotdogPi

I don't see anything wrong with the sign myself, unless it's some logical issue (in the same vein as one near me that says "veteran parking only" and excludes active duty for no good reason).

Maybe it's because "Wendy's" is backwards.

The fonts suck, but that's typical of a sign on private property.

There's already a lot wrong with this sign in Hawaii (on the right), but what puts this in the "worst of" road signs category was that it wasn't even installed in the correct location. It used to be at the stadium area on HI-99W for about a day before it was swiftly removed and moved here, with all the errors intact. Hey, at least they didn't flip the S's upside down.

That one is sneakily wretched.

At first my thoughts were "Oh, it's just Clearview," which turned into "why is the kerning so bad," which turned into "why is the Exit 1B tab so bad," which turned into "how did the S's in Heights and Stadium get swapped?"

I've always wondered why Hawaii's DOT is considered one of the worst. Now I think I know why.

I understand that these are temporary construction zone signs, but they look absolutely awful and have been up since the beginning of 2019, even though the I-440/Western Blvd. interchange reconstruction in Raleigh is pretty much complete, and that detour doesn't exist anymore. Like, I don't know how this happens; you can literally buy pre-designed, properly-specked shields online for less than $40, and all you have to do is specify a route number.

Dirt Roads

^^^ You think these are bad?  Check out these nasties at the Durham Freeway with respect to the I-40 widening in Orange County.  There's even worse examples on some of the other "alternative routes", but not yet on GSV.
