Also, I see that Nacho Daddy has "Queso Dip" on their appetizer menu.  The downtown location appears to be cheaper than the Strip location.

Colors of Mexico, at the Fashion Show mall, has "Chips & Queso" on their appetizer menu too.

Juan's Flaming Fajitas & Cantina, on Tropicana, has "Queso Dip" on their appetizer menu for a decent price.

And ooh, hey, closer to your part of town, Casa Don Juan, on N. Buffalo, has "Cheese Dip with Jalapeños" on their appetizer menu for pretty cheap.

I feel wired after sipping on a Rockstar on the way from Fresno to SJC this morning.  I slept twice yesterday for about 6.5 hours which is way more than I usually get the day of departure on these annual Hawaii trips.  We left the house at 1:30 AM and I didn't want to eat anything until we got to the airport.  I'm hoping fast food and water mitigates the effects of the caffeine.

We got a few new guinea pigs last week.  I named one of them Andy, because he's fuzzy like Snoopy's brother Andy.  For some reason though, I keep wanting to call him Alex.

If you use the wrong name, he won't come when you call.

He comes all right when I enter the room.  I just have to remember his name.

There are worse things than pooping your pants.  For example...

1.  Pooping your shoes.

2.  Pooping someone else's pants.

3.  Someone else pooping your pants.

(From here on out, I won't understand any WoW jokes, notes, or musings.)

A friend of mine likes WoW so I watched as he streamed it for me once. I got distracted by the fact that the interface was using Friz Quadrata, the Law and Order font. That led me to go down a wiki rabbit hole and apparently it was used heavily by one of the earlier editions of D&D (2nd maybe?), which meant that it was considered to be a font with fantasy-genre connotations before Law and Order used it. (Which doesn't explain why Law and Order chose a fantasy font—maybe it's ironic commentary on the true attainability of justice in the United States?—but—)

Still have no idea what is going on in that game but at least I learned something...

I think the typeface used for Law & Order has an "understated professional" look but most TV is fantasy, anyhow. Can't blame its usage in most contexts, but at least now I know the name of it.

As the Christmas season looms, I'll say hats off to my parents (and maybe yours) because I didn't realize at the time how hard they worked* to make the season special for us kids. We couldn't wait for the day to arrive, and we wanted to do all the things, and for Mom and Dad that was extra shopping, planning, driving, baking, cleaning, etc. over and above their 9 to 5's and regular parenting stuff. It's pretty special to see the kids get excited, but it can still be demanding.

There might have been times where they thought "this should be like the Olympics: every 4 years" but I never saw them crack a frown.

* same goes for vacations, too

In Vegas, pretty much EVERYTHING downtown is cheaper than the Strip.

Although, I'm disappointed to learn that the Nacho Daddy in Summerlin is permanently closed, as is the Summerlin Hash House a-Go-Go.

I figured so.  (I've only been to Vegas once, and it was back in the 90s in high school.)  But I also thought that a restaurant with multiple locations might (?) actually keep the same prices from location to location.

Apparently the bar within walking distance of me also has queso dip as an option if you buy chips-and-salsa as an appetizer. It's not bad, although it's clearly made with Velveeta. I also remembered the other day that you can get it at Café Rio (which is basically a Chipotle/Qdoba type operation found mostly in the West, but also inexplicably in the DC area).

So I guess mostly what I'm lamenting is the practice of it being brought out as a free appetizer, the way that many other restaurants bring free bread while you wait for your meal.

I've got Utahn friends that rave about Cafe Rio.  I pity them.

They're not bad, but they are close enough to actual Mexican food that I'd rather have actual Mexican food (but not different enough to be their own thing like the Del Taco Bell category is).
