Here in Tulsa, we're expecting 8-12 inches of snow. The Weather Channel app has remained really steady in predicting 16 though. Regardless of what we get, I'm excited because I've never seen more than 3 inches or so of snow on the ground before.

Snow totals for here have been revised to 10-18 inches, state employees have already been given a snow day for Monday, and from what I've read, even the Northeast is in panic buying mode, which really sucks because I need to do my regular grocery trip tomorrow and don't know what I'm going to do if the stores are out of any of my regular staples.

And here, I had decided to give you the benefit of the doubt by assuming you don't use the TP aisle because you buy your TP online instead.

Remember that hype is hype.  Roads'll be clear after all's said and done pretty quickly.  Your area has lots of stores, so you've got options.

Current NWS forecast for my area is 8-12", with a 10% chance of 14" or more. Both of the St. Louis newscasts I watched tonight largely agreed.

The most snow I have ever seen in my life is 18" (though that was two separate snowstorms that hit back-to-back) so it doesn't look like we'll top that, but this one may be a close second. The forecast also calls for our temperatures staying below freezing until February 2, so whatever snow does fall will be here for a while.

Ehhh. When we first got the bidet, I used TP several times to "spot check" (pun intended) to see how it did, and then I adjusted the bidet settings until there were no "spots" after future "visits." I'm not concerned about it not getting the job done. (Now, a travel bidet is a totally different story. bugo would really love to hear about that thing.)

My mother went to the Wegmans just west of Fairfax City this afternoon (not the same location I hit last night). She sent this picture taken right around 12:00. Glad I got our shopping done yesterday.

We usually go grocery shopping on Saturday mornings.  I decided to risk it this week and stay on schedule, hoping that people would wipe out the shelves on Thursday and Friday, but then they'd be restocked Friday night and nobody would be out shopping with us in the middle of the snowstorm the next morning.  We'll see how it goes.  It's quite the gamble.

We went to the store Thursday evening just to grab a couple of things for Friday's dinner, and some aisles looked like they had been ransacked by a horde of ravenous college students.  Friday evening, an acquaintance of ours said online that he had to go to three different grocery stores to find any ground beef left for sale.

Here in Wichita, we've received far less snow than expected so far.  Driving was easy.

Arriving at Aldi shortly after they opened this morning, with just the lightest of flurries falling, we found the staff still busy restocking the shelves.  Meat section, totally full.  We found everything on our Aldi list except for two things.

Then to Dillon's (Kroger), where the parking lot was only about one-third its usual number of cars for a Saturday morning.  All those aisles that had been picked over, totally full again.  Meat section, totally full.  Produce, completely stocked with perfect-looking veggies.  The things they were out of at Aldi, we got them at Dillon's.  Crossed everything off our list.  I think we maybe made one substitution on the fly.

Considering that the temperature isn't forecast to get significantly above 20 for several days, this snow is sticking around.  Sure, the roads will probably be fine Monday evening/Tuesday morning, but I'm not expecting bare pavement.  Very glad we have the snow day, as trying to brush off the car and navigate the roads Monday morning didn't sound like fun (although a real snow day would be better than telecommuting).

Somehow my body was awake and ready to get up earlier than usual, and awake enough to speed through my routine somewhat quickly, so I was able to head out to the store at 12:30 (at which time I normally wouldn't even have "breakfast" started).  I wasn't specifically setting out to do this, so I just got lucky on that front.  Good thing I did, though - by the way some shelves were looking, I wouldn't have been able to get things like soup or eggs otherwise (I cleaned out half their remaining stock of Campbell's chicken noodle soup and one of the last five cartons of extra large eggs).  Veggies were also tricky, with many being all out, although the peas + carrots pack I got is acceptable in a pinch even if there are reasons why I switched to the mixed veggies for my regular.  I also had to get the five cheese plus garlic french bread pizza rather than the cheese and pepperoni (hopefully they'll have that for next week, as we're in the two weeks where my grocery cycles get weird as my grocery days end up falling on weekend days).  Didn't feel like risking a bounce when I could get acceptable substitutes for those things there, both because there's no guarantee on what other stores have, and because it's so cold I was worried about my eggs and soup freezing in the trunk.

I'd think you'd at least want to use a small amount to dry off so you don't get your underwear and pants wet.

Granted, as a woman, it's not like I can avoid using TP even for pee.  "Shake it off" isn't exactly an option, even if the year is 1989.

I actually thought about buying some Pittsburgh Penguin logo towels to use for the drying.

Those of us in the Great Lakes may not get much sun for a while after the storm passes, either. Predictions are still light on how much additional snowfall we might get on Monday/Tuesday, but there is a 100% chance of snow on Monday, per weather.gov.

True, but 8 to 12 inches isn't going anywhere fast at those temperatures. It is supposed to be sunny, though, so that will help a bit.

We had 2.5 inches as of about 4:30 pm, and the second (heavier) wave of snow hasn't started yet. NWS is calling for 6 to 10 more inches; the CBS affiliate in St. Louis says some locations may get an additional foot or more.

The snowplows haven't touched the road in front of my house yet either (not unexpected) so I won't be going anywhere for at least a couple days.

It's perfectly possible to pee without toilet paper available.  Some drops get on your pants, and it's not the end of the world.  Some people need to spend some time in a less-developed nation.
