It's that time of year again... The AASHTO meeting is next week (April 12-15th) in Savannah, GA.

What will get approved in this cycle?

PA might have sorted out that Interstate proposal that was declined at the Fall meeting in a way that would get it approved (probably as a future interstate with an actual number).

New stuff that's interesting could be anything - it's the surprise ones that generate the most discussion.

Hopefully something big for West Virginia...  I wonder if the US 52 Business in Pie will be requested.

It would be nice to know what the actual items the Executive Committee will be discussing.  If they came with Premier Sponsorships maybe they would have been included in the agenda?

Perhaps the committee has/will meet before the meeting and forward the results to the Council on Highways and Street. There is no mention of the meeting on the USRN website. They do have a new 2026 application form available, much shorter than the previous one. No, there is not a special interstate application form for NC. The website is at: https://transportation.org/route/
(Have they given their website over to an AI editor? Here's the first sentence on the page:
"Special Committee on U.S. Road numbering and marking system facilitates travel on the main interstate lines, over the shortest routes and the best roads.")   :-|

The website is rather poorly maintained* - I don't believe there's ever been notice of a meeting (even in the days when the results were put on it about a week, rather than a month, after the meeting).

They do put the all the relevant files in their database about 3 days after someone has obtained the minutes and put them here - I'll give them that!

*I don't blame them as I can't imagine many more people than us looking at it. Journalists would be in contact with state DOT officials and get news of new interstates that way.

The route numbering commission should hopefully have their documents come out onto the archive sometime this week...

SPOILER ALERT: the fictional idea I had a while ago regarding US-441 was legitimately submitted! Not sure if it was approved but I was informed of its submission to the Spring meeting.

Sure is a lot of anticipation for results when none of us even knows the full scope of what was even submitted to the Executive Committee.

The Regional Transportation District's (RTD) East Colfax BRT project is a project that converts two of four lanes of East Colfax Avenue in Denver to bus-only lanes with fancy boarding platforms. The part of the BRT project in Aurora, up to I-225, will retain the four lanes of mixed traffic. Since I've had difficulty finding other sources, I'm mainly interested in finding out whether or not Colorado DOT turned over ownership of East Colfax to Denver and Aurora. Which would most certainly require rerouting of both US 40 and US 287.

From what I recall, CDOT is leading the project, so US 40 stays on Colfax. CDOT has many anti-car policies nowadays and plans to take some traffic lanes for a similar project on US 287/Federal Boulevard soon, then CO 2/Colorado Boulevard as well.
So many miles and so many roads

I sent them a Facebook message after emailing them last week and they said "we're working on getting that information for you". Not really holding my breath, though.
