Well, just to say that someone on here will soon post about another thread dedicated to US and state mixup shields and give you a heads up with possibly a moderator, as well, moving your post to that dedicated thread as well.

Me personally don't  mind this here, but we have a few people who do mind.

Literally forgot all about that thread, sorry.

I figured I would before that one person would.  I dont remember who it is that's obsessed with others posting in wrong threads, but I posted mixups in erroneous and remember how anal the user got.

No worries.  I could care less if you posted there, but this is AAROADS.COM Forum where some users get high blood pressure from other users not following rules or simply pointing out a mistake Google maps made in Lafayette,  NY that's forbidden to mention or even think about.

Quote from: vdeane on June 19, 2026, 08:50:49 PMIs NYSDOT drawing inspiration from Texas's I-27N proposal?  Thankfully no, that's just an erroneous shield.

Which one(s)?  I took a look around the intersection and saw:

One NY-9N North shield (around the corner after the left turn),
One US-9 shield (heading south, opposite of the light)
And One US-9N shield turning left at the corner.

Will the real 9 shield please stand up?

It's supposed to be US 9 and NY 9N.

Wrong thread. :D
I mean, this one is definitely special given how the suffix meanings differ for US and NY routes.  For NY routes, it's just a child route like any other.  For US routes and interstates, suffixes are technically mainline (or at least, they're supposed to be) and have directional meaning (ie, I-35E is the eastern alignment and I-35W is the western one).  Hence the comparison to I-27N.

Also interesting is that this is far from the only US 9N shield in Saratoga County.

Driving by this US189 sign in Granby, CT the other day reminded me of this thread.  Then I remembered a US/State shield mixup on a Vermont state highway that I saw probably 5-10 years ago and can't remember where it was.  I remember it was where the state highway went from paved to unpaved, and there was a US reassurance shield at that spot.  I think it was facing the southbound direction on a 3-digit route number, but I can't remember which one.  Does anyone happen to know where this was, or if it still exists?
