Las Vegas reflects my lived reality better than other cities do.

Before I moved from the Midwest I used to stay up until around Midnight.  I recall that just being the socially acceptable end time to the evening out there.

Which movies?
Hop, Name That Tune

So an Easter movie with really bad reviews and a British game show that went defunct in the 1990s?
No the Fox show, and Hop wasn't that bad.

It was adequately used when I saw Bow Wow Wow in concert earlier this year.

When I was 10, 10 was late.
Then in my early 20s, 10 was early.
Then when I was 30, 10 was my target bedtime.
Now, in my 40s, 10 is late again.

But feel free to quote me and say the same thing a third time.

The bulk of my posts probably are written while I'm at work.  That's the consequence of doing the same thing for almost a quarter century though.

This time of year a lot of amusement parks and zoos advertise their Halloween exhibits, and the Tampa Zoo's latest one are these "Disco Dancing Zombies."

I'm willing to bet they all died from shooting speedballs at the discotheques of the '70's.

Inspired by the thread title in Traffic Control, in fanfiction, a crossover is a story that crosses two or more fandoms.  What then might a double crossover fanfic be?  A crossover between two crossovers?

I added some pictures of the Florida Trail that runs along the big Cable-Stayed bridge in Lake Mary to Wikimedia Commons fairly recently, but I took those photos five years ago. These pictures were taken from the parking lot of a church that was across from the local office building. And before I even realized what the parking lot was for, I was blasting "Hard On for Jesus," by The Dandy Warhols on an SD card in a card reader plugged into my car stereo system.

I think that was almost as funny as the time I drove back from New York on I-95 though tornado-ravaged Dunn, North Carolina and saw a billboard for a local strip joint wrapped around a church.

I come into a brewpub in Lake Havasu City, and appropriately for the demographic here, it's Bingo Night.

I didn't know they sometimes play where a specific pattern is required to win, vertical or horizontal.

Also the old farts love it when the lady calls out O-69.

Quote from: gonealookin on October 07, 2026, 09:03:21 PMI didn't know they sometimes play where a specific pattern is required to win, vertical or horizontal.

In Oklahoma, slot machines wasn't legal for a long time, but bingo was. So somebody came up with something that looked like a slot machine, but the computer code was really simulating a game of bingo, so it was legally a bingo game. If your card matched a certain pattern, then the reels would roll around to a corresponding winning combination. Of course, the more complicated the pattern and the more balls it involved, the greater the payout. There was one popular VGT machine that looked and acted like a Double Diamond clone; the three-wild combination was the Corporal Stripes pattern on the card, the wild-wild-7 was Cross Corners, wild-7-7 was Pyramid, and so on. Match two or more patterns at once? Free spin bonus that you happen to win on every spin of!

Oklahoma eventually legalized actual slot machines but by that point people were so attached to the bingo machines that even now, about 20 years later, they still take up a lot of floor space in Oklahoma casinos. Of course, it helps that the state taxes actual slot machines at a higher rate than bingo, so the operators have a financial incentive to still offer the old bingo machines. Oh, and some of the machines let you change bingo cards at will, which players like because it gives them something to fidget with when they're losing.
