Does Anyone Miss Boston Market?

There was a Boston Market in McKinney that got torn down to make way for another McDonald's 15 or so years ago.

And I found it remarkable that gas was basically a $1 a gallon (or a little more) for more than a quarter-century with a few peaks and valleys ... from the 1979 Iran oil crisis all the way to 2005, when I first saw it go over $2 in Texas.

On a nominal basis, definitely.  However, proportionately....

...maybe a little, and even then, it'll depend on when one thinks the starting point of the comparison should be.

What are the axes on that graph?

Looks like dates and the ratio between oil and gas prices.

Yes, I could have done a better job labeling/explaining the chart, but it was a very quick and dirty thing while waiting for something to finish calculating on the work computer.

I took the data from the two Fred plots (petrol price and oil price), and calculated the ratio of (oil price):(petrol price) over the timeframe, with an eye towards testing whether the gap was changing.

The answer seems to be dependent on what timeframe you're looking over, but there might be a little bit of widening (petrol price not rising quite as fast as oil)

Sure looks like that gap is getting wider.

Does this factor in taxes, which have increased the price of gas over the past few decades?

True, but this sounds like an invitation to return to his true calling.

27 seasonal BMs does sound like something up his alley.

I'm tempted to check out the Oil and Gas Prices thread to see if people are talking about Boston Market over there.

Maybe, you never know.  BMs and oil go hand and hand.

The last Boston Market in my area was evicted from their building a few years ago when they didn't pay their rent for several months.
