This is going to sound weird coming from me, but I really don't know.
If the post says "NY 104" or anything about Rochester, we know it's you
There's truth to what you say regarding NY 104 (since it's one of the freeways I use most often) but plenty of people mention Rochester on here. Empirestate and vdeane are originally from here, and there's also Rochester, MN and Rochester, NH.
Sometimes I get confused between Rothman, vdeane, and webny99 because you all post about the same things and have similar avatars.

Long sentences, I suppose. And I like to think my posts are typo-free, but I'm not perfect on that front either.

To the left of it, it says "Scott5114", and there's usually an Oklahoma 74 shield. Dead giveaway.

That's kind of what I was thinking; not about you specifically, but just as a general point: what is the usefulness of this thread when we can easily tell who posted what?
If I see anything about Orleans County I'll automatically know it's you lol.

I noticed something else I tend to do. Instead of quoting a crap ton of replies in a row and adding my remark, I'll just make a reply without quoting. It may not be Alanland procedure, but I think it looks cleaner and is easier to follow (if you're skeptical, just look at my latest reply in the Number the Highway thread).

I feel like I tend to use the word "though" very often.  And yeah, parentheses.

There is nothing unique about my posts.

Well, the point of the thread is more of a "what are the unique traits of your posting style", with the implication that they could be used to identify posts in a theoretical situation where they weren't labeled. I was just making a lame joke, which, by the by, is something that clearly identifies a post as being mine.

A lot of people confused MNHighwayMan and me because we even had similar usernames to go with posting on most of the same topics and having similar avatars. One April Fool's I even changed my avatar to a MN 293 shield and added a line to my signature to try to muddy things further.

I often–but not always–put a note at the end to explain why I edited a post, such as "Edited to fix a typo." I got that idea from another forum that had an optional box where you could give a reason for an edit and I liked the idea (still do) because it can tell someone who might have been interested in my comment whether the change was substantive or trivial.

My avatar is unique. Who else is gonna have a Lincoln Parish route sign?

Also there are my good looks, charm, demeanor.  :D

I also type how I speak....southern.

Anything Louisiana related, you will find me there. I mostly stick with the Midsouth & southeastern pages. If you see a post of mine in any other region, you have found a rare Easter egg.

Did I mention my good looks, charm and demeanor yet?  :pan:

I've never given it much thought. Maybe a touch of snark and occasionally some harsh reality.  Most conservatives don't care for me. Liberals are "he said WHAT?"
