With reality setting in, namely a girlfriend, I can no longer cherish the maps and atlases that I have collected over the years. So I'm letting go of them. Best offer or whatever I can get.

Most people give away their spare maps at road meets. Not surprised you'd go the eBay route, seeing as how you also watermark all your photos... and brag about having a girlfriend on the forum...

Pete from Boston

Why is your girlfriend displacing your maps?  Mine just makes fun of me and enjoys that I'm into something.

If this woman is really this influential, you'll ultimately sell these maps for pennies on the dollar just to please her by getting rid of them.  I'm holding out.

Well, relocating to another city for one which means selling my house and moving into a smaller apartment for the time being. I also haven't been involved in the roadgeeking community for some time, so it's time to rid of some things that I just no longer need.

I've got a s#itload of maps I need to get rid of, but e-bay has been so lethargic as of late.

Olive Garden must be stopped.  I must stop them.

I just got rid of a bunch of duplicates at the Nashville Road Meet.  Others were very happy to get them.  I think I might bring the rest (only about a quarter of what I originally brought) to the next meet.

If the g/f doesn't like the maps, then it's time, IMHO, for a new g/f.  Either she likes you for who you are and what you collect, or she doesn't.

Where are you moving to?

They don't usually give away maps of this vintage, though, unless they do and I'm too busy hugging people to notice!

Not so much the 50s maps, but certainly anything in the 00s.

Agreed. I've seen people give away maps 15 years old and newer. I've been one of those people on the giving and receiving end.

I've had to get rid of wrestling videotapes and magazines but I've been able to hide the maps (and buy more).  Hide them at work if nothing else!

Texas 1950 is of interest to me

Yet my friend has estate sales all the time and sells them for $4 per map.  I told him whatever didn't sell I'd give him a few bucks for the lot since he apparently THROWS THEM ALL AWAY!
