I meant to mention periods, but the post here doesn't have them.

yes, and not using them is punishable by death.  for the second offense, you must wear a fish hat.  the penalty for wearing a fish hat is death by comma.  using a comma (not to be confused with a coma) is strictly prohibited.  in Alanland, one apologizes for commas.  commas apologize for the existence of goats.  goats apologize for commas that look like goats, except in the cases involving a coma, in which case it is not a goat at all.
