I think it was a mistake at some point. Bickendan fixed it and unlocked it.

Why someone would do this is beyond me: https://ktvz.com/news/2024/01/04/oregon-state-police-seek-tips-to-find-whoever-cut-down-discarded-7-odot-road-signs-in-wasco-county/

Yeah, you'd think they'd keep the signs.

Especially since one of the signs was milemarker 68.9...

Really odd that somebody went through the trouble to cut through the metal posts to get these signs, and then just discarded them all. All the signs seem fine, so they could just go right back into the field on new posts.

If they can figure out where they go. Someone might hurt himself from all that thinking.

Wikipedia says that Oregon Route 35 runs silently concurrent with US Route 30 in Hood River, which I assume is just another way of saying it's an unsigned concurrent. However, that is not entirely true, as seen below:

https://maps.app.goo.gl/VfSdpY5myoE5pZRx5

Trivia: The green sign here is damaged, as is the I-84 shield, and the east directionality platelet over the I-84 shield fell off, seen here in an earlier capture: https://maps.app.goo.gl/vapGcNncynMtiKhz5

https://maps.app.goo.gl/7yYqw4drTFtjF2az6

It's not signed on the other end for going east and north, as seen here:
https://maps.app.goo.gl/f69J2aPwzhc4AqPk8 (northbound OR 35)
https://maps.app.goo.gl/GCV7YXMqDBVuWRR37 (eastbound US 30)

But it's not entirely silent, either, as it is signed going west and south.

And now it doesn't. It's a useless statement anyway.

Be careful about using the word expansion in the Oregon thread particularly regarding Portland.

Well you two inadvertently sent me down a wikipedia/openstreetmap rabbit hole.

I originally "corrected" the wikipage text to reflect what I remembered from when I was there last year that NB OR 35 is concurrent with EB US-30 along Button Bridge Road and moreover which matched the wikimap that was already on the page.

And then right after a few edits, I noticed something looked wrong with the milepoints. Namely, why is a .4 mile concurrency have a difference of ~2.5 miles in milepoint #? So I checked on ODOT site and well I'll be damned, OR 35 still does officially go through town concurrent with eastbound US 30.

But Google streetview shows (and has shown since 2016) shield signs posted for SB OR 30 marked up the length Button Bridge. Not to mention about a dozen green signs at the intersection with I-84 including the name of the exit 64 (and none say TO).  And of course as you noticed virtually nothing on the actual route.

So I corrected OSM, generated a new wikimap, and added a paragraph about the stupidity I learned today.  Hopefully no-one removes the signs before I am there again in three weeks.

I'm confused. My understanding was that the northern terminus of Oregon Route 35 was at a junction with Interstate 84 at Exit 64 since that's where the Hood River Bridge is, and on the Washington side, it was going to be Washington State Route 35 between Washington State Route 14 and the Oregon state line to connect Washington State Route 14 to Interstate 84, but those plans were scrapped.

According to the posted signs heading westbound/southbound (https://maps.app.goo.gl/zpFpxDDJGxAe5J8d8), the US Route 30 and Oregon Route 35 concurrency is this section: https://maps.app.goo.gl/8hufShHqNMgfSzfm6 However, you're saying the concurrency is actually this section: https://maps.app.goo.gl/nFzZvTQy6EedTFwm7 And the northern terminus of Oregon Route 35 is actually at a junction with Interstate 84 at Exit 62. Am I understanding that correctly?

Interestingly enough, according to Google Maps, US Route 30 and Oregon Route 35 have no concurrency, as Google Maps shows the northern terminus of Oregon Route 35 at the junction with US Route 30. Google Maps doesn't show Oregon Route 35 shields past that.

Their GIS (screenshot above), the old straightline, and the replacement Highway Inventory page all confirm this.

And yet the road signs seem to imply that the plan to have the bridge taken over by the State went through.

As I said a huge rabbit hole this afternoon for what started as correcting one sentence of text.

Thank you for the great work!

ODOT's Highway Route Descriptions document also states OR 35 is routed through Hood River along US 30.  Here's the specific description:

OR35 - Over the Mt. Hood Highway from the junction with the Columbia River
Highway, I-84 and US30, west of Hood River, easterly through Hood River
(common with US30 in Hood River) and southerly via Mt. Hood to its junction
with the Warm Springs Highway, US26, approximately three miles east of
Government Camp.

But I can also attest to the fact that this is contradicted by pretty much every bit of signage on the ground there!

I will just note for the record I was alerted to this and clinched 35 based on Oregon's GIS map, not Wiki.

ODOT is currently designating an exit only lane for the Lewis & Clark Bridge from US-30E (well underway, with signs in place and striping removed). While I couldn't get a picture, there's a new sign for the thru lane:
  EAST
St. Helens
 Portland

and a bagged sign for the exit that's the same size.

Wonder what will be appearing on it? I assume "TO I-5" is in order, and the destinations are still Longview / Seattle, but there's a good chance of a WA-433 or WA-432.

I'd settle for the "TO I-5."  I'd be pretty surprised if the sign referenced either of the WA-43x's.
