Quote from: Beltway on January 07, 2026, 03:59:39 PMClose, but the traditional Castilian pronunciation is actually 'choo‑choo.' Linguists have documented this extensively.

I wonder if there's a non-zero number of forum members who have another member of this forum in their household.

Meanwhile my wife doesn't even follow our Facebook page.

Pretty sure my ex-fiancée registered an account here once upon a time, though I don't believe she ever actually posted.

Did I ever dodge a bullet with that one.  :)

I dated a woman a decade ago who was weird (insecure) about what social media accounts I had.  I never mentioned that I had one here and it would have been pretty hard for her to find it (much less recognize it was me).  Had she known I guarantee she would have created her own account.

Which is kind of funny, considering most of the forum is visible to the public without an account.

Yes, that did occur to me.  Hence why my screen name is Max Rockatansky as opposed to Tom Fearer.  Seemed like a pretty easy argument to avoid at the time.  We broke up a month or two after I registered.

or

A movement from an eastbound signed highway to a westbound signed highway or vice versa.

And yet that would typically be called a "ramp", not an "interchange".

I wonder, are there any cases of the mainline through-lanes of an an Interstate transitioning directly to the opposite signed direction of a different Interstate?

Yes.  As I think was mentioned on that thread, I-80 eastbound is duplexed with I-580 westbound for several miles between Oakland and Albany, Calif., and I-80 westbound with I-580 eastbound.

Tell that to Plutonic Panda! From the NYC congestion charge thread:

Ironically, the funny thing about a lot of American cities is they have pretty definitive urban sinners because of the freeways that were built around them so it wouldn't be too hard to implement congestion, pricing in a lot of these cities

Quote from: hotdogPi on January 07, 2026, 01:39:32 PMYes, the south end of I-93.

For a 3di example (also mentioned in the "Wrong Way Interchanges" thread in question), the through lanes of I-590 SB transition directly to I-390 NB.

No, I just judged that it was moving close enough to territory where someone would try and start a fight that it was better to prune the thread in the hopes everyone would get back to more minor subjects. This thread is way more fun when it's about petty stuff.

...Oh, wait, I just read the rest of the thread, and apparently you were asking some combination of Jesus, Jesús, Chew-Cho (or perhaps Choo-Choo), and Zeus, not me. Never mind...

Vanderbilt men's basketball has a player named Chandler Bing. What were his parents thinking?

Back to the topic of trunk access, my current car (a 2011 Chevy Impala) has a solid, non-split back seat. It also has three non-removable headrests in the back seat, which are PITAs when it comes to turning around and seeing when backing out.

I'm curious how the pronunciation of Jesus in Spanish can be chew-cho.  That certainly doesn't sound like the pronunciation of letters in Spanish that I learned about in high school.

One common nickname for the given name Jesús is Chucho.

Fine. How about Eduardo -> Lalo, Guillermo -> Memo, José -> Pepe, Francisco -> Pancho, Rodrigo -> Lolo, etc. Better?  ;-)
