I have met four of them. The other one has spent a lot of time on his roads websites. I don't know that any of the five are "a lie".

If it's a "standard Facebook trope" to make that kind of accusation, that doesn't speak well of Facebook, and supports my decision to have nothing to do with Facebook.

I believe it means "I've met four of these five. Guess which one I haven't."

There's been a similar meme on Twitter that goes like:  "I've seen five of these bands/musicians.  Guess which one is a lie."

Which would mean either the first sentence or the second is a lie.

Sloppy wording, at best. Better to say something like "I've seen four of these five bands. Guess which one I haven't."

I was hoping this would be a "One of these roadgeeks always tells the truth, one of them always tells a lie" sort of logic puzzle.

If I was to do that here, the thread would get locked before the end of the night, because someone's feelings would get hurt, and I would be made to look like a bad guy (if I'm not already).

I can't remember exactly how it was worded, but you're right.

Now there's an idea for a show:  To Tell The Truth - Roadgeek Edition.

Number 1 said that he ran from Bedford, PA to New York which doesn't seem to fit the grid at all. Number 3 said he ran along upgraded US 17 in North Carolina but that seems too infeasible to construct. Number 2 said he's just a short route in Maryland east of I-95 which seems to make the most sense so I voted for him. *ding*
...

Will the real Interstate 99, please stand up.

Roadgeekteen

I'm going to guess Adam because Ohio is kinda far from NC compared to the other states.
My username has been outdated since August 2023 but I'm too lazy to change it

vdeane

Meanwhile I was going to guess Steve Anderson since I don't recall him ever being at a roadmeet.

Back to my original question; Valerie is correct, I have yet to meet Steve Anderson. For Roadgeekteen, I have met Adam, while he still lived in the Pittsburgh area we both attended the first Ohio Roadmeet in Toledo, back in 2002 (IIRC).

Side story on Steve Anderson. Back in 2001, I drove from C-bus to New York City for an academic conference. I was going to skip one of the days of the conference to be given a tour of NYC by David Greenburger (MTR alum, now works for NYC transit) & Steve Anderson. Alas, day before the tour, Steve had to drop out (I don't remember why, 20 years later), so it was just David showing me around the region.
Please, don't sue Alex & Andy over what I wrote above

Anyways, my idea with this thread was others to chime in with the same question for us to guess at. Just don't use any of your computer passwords.  :-D

Sure he has - hasn't lately though.  I met him in person in 2010 at Providence.

Kozel for me. Carl and Alps were at my Richmond meet in 2012, I met Froggie at his last Hampton Roads meet, and Mark and I met in person once in a map exchange when he lived down here.
