How in the hell is wallethub a source for outdoor life? Michigan, Wisconsin and Minnesota are three states that are well known for outdoor life. Lots of lakes, summer vacations, hunting in all three states, cottages dotting the landscape. Up North Michigan is a thing and well known in the Great Lakes region. Ever hear of Traverse City, Houghton Lake, Holland, Ludington, Manistee, Torch Lake, Petoskey? Those areas blow anything Illinois has to offer away. You won't come close to touching the Sleeping Bear Dunes in Illinois. In fact if Illinois has more to offer for outdoor life and has their own beaches then how come Warren Dunes is constantly flooded by people from Illinois?

Also our state borders four Great Lakes, Illinois only borders one.

If Illinois's outdoor options are so great, why do all of them go to Wisconsin for outdoors activities?

And Michigan. I see them all the time here. I drive in a lot of areas of Michigan and see Illinois plates all the time and almost every time they are driving like shit. I think this is all proof that Illinois really doesn't offer that much compared to Wisconsin and Michigan. I like Indiana better than I do Illinois.

Members of the Church of Wallethub are known for being big on flagellation.  Abstaining from Illinois shows how devout one is to the teachings of the Church.

I imagine a standard day in the life of Crash is something like this:

Just replace every instance of "Bison"  with "flat"  and you'll be on the right track.

Don't know why you like Indiana better because Illinois had far more state parks and county forest preserves than Indiana could ever dream of and they're FREE!

I answered that already. Because they don't see remaining in Illinois as being on vacation or they have self hate for their own state (see this alot on news articles and even on tourism blogs).

If your claim is true that a lot of IL residents leave Illinois when they can because they hate it . . . what does that say about Illinois?

It says nothing because that amount that's supposedly alot is tripled by the people remaining in here and having a good time enjoying everything the state has to offer.

Sure looked as though the majority of Illinois posters didn't have positive opinions regarding the state.  Do they just not follow the teachings of Wallethub?

Good for you, it really doesn't mean much when you can be in Michigan in under two hours from Starved Rock. The areas of Michigan I see Illinois plates in are 4-5 hours from Chicago so do the math. Considering that Illinois Beach State Park is less than 5 minutes from the Wisconsin border have you ever put two and two together and even attempted to figure out why it would be flooded with Wisconsin plates?

I like Indiana better because I do, I don't care about what kind of state parks Illinois and Indiana have that has nothing to do with why I like Indiana better. Also I don't care if they're free, that also means nothing to me.

Also, there isn't anything better to do at 1 AM then lob three separate weak retorts at people?  Hell, if I wasn't bringing someone to the airport I would have called it a night at least an hour ago.

I answered that already. Because they don't see remaining in Illinois as being on vacation or they have self hate for their own state (see this alot on news articles and even on tourism blogs).
If your claim is true that a lot of IL residents leave Illinois when they can because they hate it . . . what does that say about Illinois?

It says nothing because that amount that's supposedly alot is tripled by the people remaining in here and having a good time enjoying everything the state has to offer.
It's pretty obvious that you don't get out of Illinois very often.

You have no clue where I've been.

Your words often speak clearly to your inexperience in travel.

Also, there isn't anything better to do at 1 AM then lob three separate weak retorts at people?  Hell, if I wasn't bringing someone to the airport I would have called it a night at least an hour ago.

I had actually just gotten home at that time from some weekend adventuring. Since you follow me around on Facebook you should know.

I've traveled to a lot of places here are the states I've been in

Georgia
Illinois
Indiana
Iowa
Kentucky
Michigan
Minnesota
Missouri
Ohio
Tennessee

Granted, haven't been to the southern states since 2010 but all the Midwestern states I've been to quite recently. I'm even talking to a girl that lives well into Ohio.

Look at a map to the northwest of Illinois. Specifically, North Dakota, Minnesota, and Wisconsin. You haven't entered two of them (despite trashing Wisconsin all the time), and you find the one you have been to, Minnesota to be fine. Have you even considered that that entire region is as good as Illinois?

Basically you've barely been out of the Midwest and you are a beginner traveler.  That list coupled with saying things like that you have seen all you need to see from Interstates in places like Wisconsin doesn't exactly impress.

You would be correct that I do view your page on occasion when I'm bored, some of the comments are worth a chuckle.  I don't know how I would get that you were rolling home at 1 AM out of it though?  Either way, responding to three separate posts with fast retorts at 1 AM kind of proves my point (although I didn't reference Wallethub) about not anything better to do.

Odd that you mention talking to someone in Ohio.  I'm sure I can guess the implied context, but that's a strange argument point to make if I'm correct on what you meant.

Minnesota would be my preferred "up north" state rather than Wisconsin. Indiana is like a generic store brand version of Illinois. To that I say....why get a store brand when you can just have the real thing? Only thing Indiana has over Illinois is well something I can't mention but then again Minnesota also has that too but Indiana would be more advantageous in that fact since the winters there (at least in the central and southern portions of the state) are significantly less harsh than Minnesota.
