Well Ilinois passed their budget.

But I see some red flags in there. 

They are holding back the motor fuels tax revenue from being transferred to the constitutionally protected transportation lockbox.

By law they are supposed to transfer the collected tax revenue over, but they said they are going to hold on to it and delay the transfer.

This will be around $170 million.

I am wondering if this why the mainline I39 expansion around Rockford is delayed?

Per IDOT District 2, they spent February 2025 setting up the new traffic patterns for the construction season.

On March 25, 2025 they said construction would resume and the majority would be complete before the year end.

I-72/US 36 bridge is down for an entire month for repairs. Traffic is routed to either the US 24 bridges or US 54.

Hopefully the contractor will be incentivized enough to let me complete clinching I-72 in a few weeks.

That is only the diverging diamond.  The mainline reconstruction is on the current bid list for notification only.   Mainline construction has not started, when the entire project started they said mainline construction 25-27.  https://www.rebuildi39.com/
