SR 275 west
A small guide sign alludes to the former off-ramp to West Capital Avenue at the foot of the Tower Bridge. The ramp was removed during the Tower Gateway Bridge through West Sacramento and replaced with a signalized intersection at 3rd Street. This sign references Garden Street, which was renamed Grand Street by 2016. 03/13/15
The Tower Bridge is a vertical lift bridge that opened on December 15, 1935. It was built in cooperation between the state of California, county of Sacramento, and Sacramento Northern Electric Railroad.1 03/13/15
North of the Tower Bridge, the I Street Bridge spans the Sacramento River northwest of Downtown Sacramento and north of The Ziggurat in West Sacramento. 03/13/15
Tower Bridge Gateway west
Crossing the Sacramento River into the city of West Sacramento, the four lane boulevard next meets 3rd Street north and Riverfront Street south. 03/13/15
The Tower Bridge Gateway redevelopment project included rebuilding what was River Road as a four lane boulevard (Riverfront Street) south to adjacent Raley Field and connecting 3rd Street from The Ziggurat to the north. 03/13/15
The SR 275 freeway previously traveled uninterrupted from an on-ramp at 5th Street south. 5th Street was extended south across Tower Bridge Gateway to South River Road. 03/13/15
Tower Bridge Gateway advances south from Grand Street and Delta Lane to a left turn for Ironworks Avenue. The concrete roadway remains along the freeway connection leading to U.S. 50 (Capital City Freeway). 03/13/15
