County Road 173

The two main sections of County Road 173 travel northeast from CR 280 (Douglas Ferry Road) in northern Washington County to Bonifay and from SR 79/CR 177A in Bonifay to the Alabama state line north of Poplar Springs. The southern branch meanders northeast from Five Points along Bethel Road to the Holmes County line and along Jenkins Road into the city of Bonifay. CR 173 ties into U.S. 90 southwest of Downtown Bonifay via McGree Road north. Measuring just 0.23 miles, the third segment of CR 173 links the southern leg with SR 79 (Waukesha Street) in the city of Bonifay along a combination of McGee Road south to Holmes Avenue east.

The northern segment of County Road 173 stems east from SR 79 (Waukesha Street) along North Avenue. Turning north, CR 173 passes between Martins Bay and Hurricane Bay to CR 162 west of Tri-County Airport (1J0). The rural highway continues to CR 160 west, SR 2 at Poplar Springs, Underwood Crossing and Geneva County Road 49 in Lower Alabama.
