State Route 404 Business

SR 404 Business was designated in 1999 along the original route of Delaware State Route 404 through the town of Bridgeville. SRe 404 overtook SR 404 Alternate at that time to bypass Bridgeville to the north and east.
SR 404 Business follows Seashore Highway southeast to Market Street in an industrial area west of the Norfolk Southern Railroad tracks in Bridgeville. The state route continues east along Market Street through the historic district to Main Street, where it combines with U.S. 13 Business south. The tandem travel south by the Heritage Shores golf course community to end where SR 404 splits with U.S. 13 (Sussex Highway) at the continuation of Seashore Highway east.

Crossing Bridgeville Branch, SR 404 Business enters the town of Bridgeville. The rural highway intersects Federalsburg Road south and Market Street east at an industrial area adjacent to a NS Railroad crossing.
This assembly was replaced by 2008 to include a business banner.

Older guide signs posted for SR 404 referenced Seashore Points instead of Beaches. SR 404 Business otherwise turns onto Market Street east into the Bridgeville historic district.

Replaced shield assembly referencing the original SR 404 mainline along Market Street. Market Street west becomes Federalsburg Road, which leads southwest to SR 18 at Clarksons Crossroads.

SR 404 Business heads east along Market Street for 0.44 miles to U.S. 13 Business (Main Street). Shields formerly referenced Main Street as the U.S. 13 mainline.

U.S. 13 Business (Main Street) loops west from U.S. 13 (Sussex Highway) through Bridgeville for 2.5 miles.

Leaving the Bridgeville street grid, U.S. 13 Business/SR 404 Business (Main Street) enter a rural swath between Antique Alley and Rifle Range Road.

Development of Heritage Shores further changed the south end of Main Street. Passwaters Farm Road loops west to the golf course community and south to U.S. 13 (Sussex Highway) from a new traffic light on U.S. 13 Business/SR 404 Business.

Commercial development surrounds the southern end of the Bridgeville business loop. Little remains of the old alignment, as a Wawa gas station was directly built over it.

SR 404 Business ends across from the continuation of SR 404 east along Seashore Highway to Georgetown. The initial route east from U.S. 13 was also realigned to meet Sussex Highway at a 90 degree angle.
