Entering Delaware along unsigned MD 896 (New London Road) near the tri-corner of Delaware, Pennsylvania, and Maryland. New London Road widens with the addition of full shoulders from the state line southward into Newark.

With the exception of local deliveries, commercial trucks with three axles or more are prohibited from using Christina Parkway (SR 4) east between Elkton Road and S College Avenue. The restriction was enacted to preclude truck traffic from shunpiking I-95 through the Newark Toll Plaza.

SR 896 passes just west of Glasgow Regional Park between Muddy Run and U.S. 40 (Pulaski Highway). Future plans for the Glasgow bypass include constructing a grade separated interchange at U.S. 40.

Freeway style guide signs are used along all directions of the SR 896 and U.S. 40 (Pulaski Highway) intersection. U.S. 301 previously ended here, but was poorly marked. Signs also allude to the end point of U.S. 301 prior to 1993 at the Farnhurst interchange where U.S. 13-40 and I-295 meet.

U.S. 40 (Pulaski Highway) connects suburban areas of Glasgow west to Elkton, Maryland and east to Bear and U.S. 13 (Dupont Highway) at State Road. Rapid development from 1990 to 2005 eroded the majority of the remaining farm land along the corridor.
Annapolis, Maryland debuts to southbound motorists for the connection with U.S. 301 to the Chesapeake Bay Bridge.
