Interstate 95 South - Dunn to Eastover


Underway from January 2020 to 2025 Summer 2026, the $708.9 million widening of I-95 from I-40 southwest to Exit 55 with Murphy Road will replace the remaining substandard overpasses.

Jonesboro Road (SR 1808) extends Dragstrip Road (SR 1107) west of NC 242 in Johnston County 3.10 miles to the diamond interchange at Exit 75.

Eight lane widening of I-95 will greatly expand the foot print of the exchange (Exit 75) with Jonesboro Road. Jonesboro Road (SR 1808) splits into Carolina Drive and Johnston Street in eastern limits of Dunn.

Pope Road extends SR 1793 south from Spring Branch Road and I-95 to Long Branch Road (SR 1002) by Mingo Swamp. Northward Spring Branch Road ties into Pope Street within the Dunn street grid.

Exit 61 joins I-95 south with Wade-Stedman Road (SR 1815) to Wade in one mile. Wade is located along U.S. 301 to the west of the freeway.

Wade-Stedman Road links Wade with U.S. 13, Bethany Crossroads and NC 24 (Clinton Road) at the town of Stedman. River Road arcs northwest from Church Street in Wade along the Cape Fear River to NC 295.

The construction of I-295 replaced the original at-grade intersection where U.S. 13 ended at U.S. 301. I-295 extends west to U.S. 401 (Ramsay Street) in north Fayetteville and NC 24/87/210 at Fort Bragg.

The original diamond interchange joining I-95 with the south end of U.S. 13 was upgraded between 2000 and 2005 to accommodate NC 295, which opened westward from I-95 on July 7, 2005.

Part of a $404 million contract awarded in August 2019, expansion of I-95 from Exit 15 near Dunn to Exit 56 at Eastover includes a new ramp connecting I-95 north with I-295 south.1

Interstate 295 loops 22.48 miles around the city of Fayetteville to Fort Bragg, the All American Freeway and U.S. 401 (Raeford Road). Pembroke Lane (SR 1933) connects U.S. 13 with U.S. 301 to the east.
