Interstate 135

Interstate 135 is a 95.74 mile long route joining Wichita with Salina in central Kansas. All but the southernmost 0.43 miles at the South Area of Wichita overlaps with U.S. 81. K-15 also accompanies I-135 from Southeast Boulevard in Wichita north 26.79 miles to U.S. 50 at Newton.

Interstate 135 follows the Canal Route through the city of Wichita from K-15 north to the Northeast Millair neighborhood. K-96 ties into I-135 from a freeway loop around northeast Wichita. K-96 overlaps with I-235, the west loop around Wichita, to the Northwest Expressway. I-135-U.S. 81/K-15 continue through the north suburb of Park City by Valley Center en route to Newton in Harvey County.

U.S. 50 bypasses Newton to the south and alongside I-135/U.S. 81 to the east. Paralleling a Kansas & Oklahoma Railroad line, Interstate 135 turns northwest from the Harvey County seat to Hesston, Moundridge and McPherson County.

Passing east of the city of McPherson, I-135 meets the north end of the K-61 expressway to Hutchinson and U.S. 56 east of Downtown. U.S. 81 Business loops west from I-135 for 7.67 miles into McPherson between Exits 58 and 60.

Bee lining north from McPherson, I-135/U.S. 81 leaves McPherson County by Lindsborg. The northern 18.80 miles extend to the city of Salina and Interstate 70 within Saline County. U.S. 81 continues north from the end of I-135 along a freeway to K-106 near Minneapolis and an expressway to Concordia.
