Underway in April 2021, the Wichita North Junction Gold Project Sub-Phase replaces both ramps from I-135 to I-235 south / K-96 west as part of an overall project converting the substandard exchange at Exit 11 into a systems interchange.

Exit 9 will be relocated to combine with a two lane flyover from I-135 northbound before joining I-235/K-96 west ahead of N Broadway Avenue.

The Purple Project will eventually repurpose the southbound roadway of I-135 into a c/d roadway from K-254 west to K-96 east. A new roadway for I-135 will be built adjacent to I-135 northbound.
