Interstate 670 emerges from below the Grand Ballroom a half mile ahead of I-70 and U.S. 71. The addition of the 46,450 square foot Grand Ballroom to the Kansas City Convention Center complex was constructed above I-670 between June 2005 and April 2007.¹

Grand Avenue passes over Interstate 670 by the T-Mobile Center the primary concert and indoor sports arena for Kansas City.
The Grand Avenue overpass closed on May 6, 2016 due to stress fractures. A $3.5 million emergency contract was awarded to demolish the span and build a replacement.²

U.S. 71 extends south from I-70 and Exit 2M along Bruce Watkins Drive / Midtown South Freeway to Mt. Hope, Blue Hills and South Kansas City. U.S> 71 becomes Interstate 49 at the Three Trails Crossing Memorial Highway exchange with I-435, I-470 and U.S. 50.
