Illinois Route 104

Illinois State Route 104 travels 126.1 miles between U.S. 24 in Quincy and IL 29 at Taylorsville. The route runs east from Downtown Quincy to the unincorporated community of Hickory Grove beyond I-172/IL 110 (Chicago Kansas City Expressway). Continuing with four lanes, IL 104 leads to Quincy Regional Airport (UIN), before reducing two lanes and turning southeast to Liberty.

IL 104 angles southeast toward the unincorporated community of Kingston in Adams County, then heads east across northern Pike County to Chambersburg. Spanning the Illinois River into Morgan County, IL 104 lines Main Street through the village of Meredosia. 1.91 miles east beyond the village line, IL 104 combines with U.S. 67 south.

Traversing bluffs east of the Illinois River flood plain, U.S. 67/IL 104 expand to a four lane expressway en route to the village of Chapin. The two routes separate at a trumpet interchange with IL 78 outside Jacksonville.

IL 78/104 overlap 0.49 miles east from the freeway along U.S. 67. IL 78 runs along the north side of Jacksonville to Main Street (old U.S. 67) while IL 104 straddles the western city line south to Business Loop I-72 (Morton Avenue). A five lane commercial boulevard, Morton Avenue leads Business Loop I-72/IL 104 east 3.54 miles across Jacksonville.

Paralleling a BNSF Railroad line, IL 104 branches southeast from Business Loop I-72 to Pisgah and the village of Franklin. Turning east ahead of Waverly, IL 104 continues into Sangamon County to Auburn, northern reaches of Divernon and Pawnee. Within Christian County, IL 104 connects the villages of Tovey, Bulpitt, Kincaid and Jeisyville the county seat of Taylorville.
