Highway 198 - Lucedale

The Lucedale branch of Highway 198 loops 9.5 miles south from U.S. 98 into the George County seat. The route follows Main Street through Downtown, and formerly overlapped with MS 63 east from Winter Street to Evanston Road.

MS 198 separates from U.S. 98 at C.F. Eubanks Road. The state route overtakes the former U.S. 98 along Main Street, which extends west nearby as a service road.

Advancing 2.4 miles southeast from the MS 63 expressway overpasses, MS 198 (Main Street) enters Downtown Lucedale and intersects the east end of MS 26. MS 26 formerly overlapped with MS 63 south along Winter Street.

Main Street continues east through the Lucedale business district. Winter Street extends north another three blocks to Pine Street while MS 26 south leads to MS 63 south to Moss Point.

The confirming marker for Mississippi 198 east after Mississippi 26 (Winter Street) was removed by 2016. It originally appeared alongside a shield for Mississippi 63 north.
